Raspberry Pi for internet access
This is probably not what you wanted, but did you ever consider using a Raspberry PI for internet access? It's serial, so slower than a Plipbox but easy to setup.

I did consider that, but "easy to set up" didn't seem to be the case. Of course, that was before I knew how much harder Plipbox was than its creator made it seem...
Cheers! |

Sorry for the OT but I just need to ask...
@nogginthenog Is there a howto for using the Raspberry PI for internet access. Is there a minimun spec Amiga needed? |

The webpage is hosted on my raspberry pi and my internet has been dodgy recently so if it doesn't work try later! Back in the day I used an A500 for internet access so anything should work. A hard drive is recommended :-) |

Question; Configuring the PI: Is this still connected to the Amiga? |

I don't own a zero (and I think they're hard to come by). As far as I know it has no wifi/ethernet so you will need a usb wifi adapter or something similar.

So a RP2 or RP3 should work? EDIT: Damn, I thought these Raspberry's were supposed to be cheap? PI+power supply+SD card+serial adapter+serial cable is expensive for an Internet connection. Last edited by Arnie; 27 April 2016 at 15:34. |

Don't forget a case :-)
Power supply is a normal USB2 one that comes with phones etc. I used a 2Gb SD card from an old phone. I own a RPI2 & RPI3 and I can borrow a RPI1. Need do some testing on the 1/3 to see if they work. I think they are compatible. It's a fun little toy. |

The charger, card and cables aren't expensive by themselves, but if you have to buy them all together then the price soon adds up. People are asking as much for the PI2 as the PI3?
Saying that though, if this solution proves to be easy to setup then maybe it could be worth it. I just haven't got that kind of money to throw around at the moment. |
