Disk Drive 1541

Wondered if the Commodore 1541 drive made for the 64 works on other models, the 1000 or 500 specifically. We don't suppose it does but thought we'd ask anyway. There's one for sale on eBay. It sings! Thanks.

Nope, not without a fairly uncommon commercial emulator (The A64 Package had a parallel port adapter) or a "homebrew" cable like the Easy1541 or Frodo IEC cables. Mainly useful for dumping existing floppies or writing images to disks for use with an 8-bit Commodore. Don't know if there are any tools to mount 1541 disks natively in AOS.
