BVISION PPC questions...
Since I'm thinking to get a PPC card for my amiga, what's the deal with the BVISION card? Can it be used to play in good speed the ppc versions of heretic/quake2 and all other software? or would it be better to get a g-rex + voodoo3 or similar card?
And most importantly: the only way to switch between the amiga/rtg display is by using a manual switch? Is there a way to make the switch automatically, like many zorro rtg do? |

Now this is a must have if you'll get a PPC In fact I used my PPC for the sake of this. This board has a 3d performance below a riva TNT if not close to it. I didn't try quake but I know it runs doom ultra fast. You don't switch between pal/ntsc and rtg moder you must have two different monitors. This one just has a vga port while you'll be using your old rgb connector for everything else.

perhaps I'll stick to the piccolosd64 for now... what troubles me is that with it, I won't be able to enjoy the newer ppc games...

Parralax's Statements are nearly all correct LOL
Yes if you B-vision PPC you have to seriously move your 1200 into a tower and ADD SOME EXTRA heatsinks and fans
And B-Vision performance IS OF COURSE below that of even the cheapest Pc video card BUT there is a way to play old games AGA/ECS without using a second monitor You run can WinUAE on it and use the EMU screen Just don't expect it to run at any real speed though |

Sorry to bring this old thread back but here are preliminary benchmarks blizzard PCI slot at AGP speed 8/26 using ragemem.
OS4.1 update 5 1024x768 32 bit screenmode. NOTE: this is preliminary and is expected to improve with above screenmode. |

The idea behind this is to close the gap to those users that have radeon & voodoo cards on classic amiga.
Yon need minimum OS4.x PPC processor and a GFX card attached. Then download ragemem from OS4depot then look out for the last test result. Video Bus Read 8 Write 26 NOTE: you can get better test result by lowering the screenmode but 1024x768 32 bit screenmode is standard here. Screenshot will be provided when I have time.
