@frikilokooo

unfortunately I hate to be the barer of bad news but

firstly this is a cardbus card, not PC Card,

secondly this a 32bit card not 16bit

and finally there are no pcmcia USB card drivers available for the Amiga.

sorry m8.

There is only one company that makes 16-bit Type II PCMCIA to USB 2.0 FS host adapters.

I know, I work for them.

http://www.oxsemi.com/products/serial/OXCFU950.html

Over a year ago I sent two devkits, one to Michael Boemer of E3B and one to Chris Hodges of Poseidon together with the Windows and linux drivers (including source code) and HRM doc. While slightly interested both were busy on other projects.

pcmcia usb would only be suitable for A1200 and A600 with a 030 atleast... both can easily have a subway, so I don't think we will ever see the pcmcia-usb adaptor for amiga...

If you want to become a software developer and write the driver for Poseidon then I'll send you the HRM and the linux/windows driver source for reference.

Yes I think it would be better based on cost, I think the SubWay is quite expensive.

The costs would still be high because it is not an "off the shelf" card.

Whilst theoretically it could offer better performance (as it is a 16-bit interface rather than the SubWay's 8-bit one) it needs more CPU power than the subway for it's driver.

I think I could get away without an NDA if I didnt send the windows driver source.

@alexh

I dont want you to get into trouble, I am interested in trying my hand and an Amiga driver, but I would want that driver to be Open Source, the initial sources obviously would still be owned by the company you are with.

however would an open source Amiga Driver break any marketing constructs for the unit. basically, I don't want to spend the next three months writing a driver for the Amiga, only for it not to be release as even in part it cannot legally part of an open sourced project (even if Amiga).

If i sound cautious, it is because i have been slightly singed down this road before, I have worked under an NDA or two and I am also happy to do so again as long as you can get a legal clearing of the Amiga Drivers would be Open source (not the sources you send me of course, thats your companies property)

So in a nutshell I am happy to donate my time to develop (hopefully) an Amiga Driver as long as its allowed in the public domain (including Amiga Sources)

)

I was not too clear
I was thinking about those PCMICA to USB things you see all over eBay and the like for laptops, if by some miracle someone got one of those working, that could prove usefull, look how cheap they are, if only 1 would also fit the electronic compatibliltys too
