Now I want to see jmmijo's steam client...

Because I want to see what 500000 games updating at the same time does to a man!

The reason for the mass updates is explained here:

This happened to me yesterday yes

I think I had over 500 games needing to be updated and most were just zero byte updates

I wonder, why this happens exclusively with the steam client. I never had a zero byte "update" on gog galaxy.

I wonder if many shared resources are just getting updates pointed to the new shared resource location ?

But you would think it would be more than that zero byte update thing

As far as I understand it installations for system dependencies were unified so they are not managed per game. Things like .NET and DirectX runtimes. Hence the zero bytes, there was no actual data being downloaded. Weird system but it works.

I wish there was a way to initiate the downloads all queued up so I don't have to click on them one at a time

Wut about the button in the upper right corner of the Downloads page?
Had my share of 0-byte updates last night, but it went smoothly in the background, only issue was that I had to restart the client to get rid of all the notifications for seperate updates from that page.

That was crazy...

At one point I thought my external HD was not recognized, or Steam folder got corrupted.

Isn't this daily occurrence for jmmijo?

Yeah, but I've had this happen a few times before so I knew what to do but it was nice to get an answer to why it was occurring.

My favorite list is only 1-2 items, very rarely more items and it is usually only game(s) I am currently playing. My default view is installed games - mostly I am planning to play or sometimes replay.

I use the favorites list to keep track of games I'm playing and (new) games I still need to play I find it ridiculously long already! Darned sales make it so it never shrinks.

I keep a separate category "replayable" for all the games I've already played but can easily play again. Those can be considered my true "favorites".

Yes, there are different methods to do it, and everyone has its own personal favorite method.

I was thinking to use Launchbox as allows you to create lists and you can easily add Steam games, combining emulation and steam games under one hood.
