Lemmings sculptures in Dundee...

I was reading Retro Maniac (an spanish retro news blog) and it looks the city of Dundee has made an AMAZING tribute to DMA Design and Lemmings, you can read the news in the Dundee local press here and find nice photos here.

Another "Amiga reason" to visit Scotland

Awesome, and for a local rag, we didn't get to see the word 'PC' as an all encompassing computer of the times, the Amiga actually got name checked

Yes, I will definitely go and have a look at these next time I am in Dundee. I hope they are well secured or they might not be there very long.

@Galahad-I wonder if Amiga is well known to veteran Dundee journalists not just because of DMA but I have a feeling there was an Amiga assembly plant in Dundee.

The Amiga assembly plant wasn't in Dundee dude. That was in Irvine, on the west coast near Glasgow. You may be mixed up with the Timex factory, where the Sinclair computers were made.

I think he main reason the press here like to harp on about Lemmings and DMA is simply because it was a local success story. There haven't been too many of those in the recent history of the city.

I think i'll have a ride down on my mountain bike tomorrow and snap some pics of the wee guys.

Zoltar although you are a evil master mind, it would be nice to see some new shots of the little fellas to see they are being looked after

Try and take your mind off G-Force for a bit

That seems to have more to do with the article's author referring to Wikipedia for information, according to Mike Dailly the Amiga, PC and ST versions were developed simultaneously.

Any chance of taking a long blue jersey and a green wig with you?

I'm afraid not. I'm all out of green wigs at the moment. And blue jerseys for that matter. What would have been nice, woud be to take my Lemmings disk and box down to picture it with the figures. Alas, after searching through the planet Spectra storage area, i've only managed to find the instruction booklet.

DOH!

Here you go dudes...

There were a couple of foreign sounding young student girls grabbing a few pics while I was there who didn't look like they were even born when it was released. Maybe they'll end up finding out about the game and end up playing it on WinUAE or something?

They may know them from PSX or PSP. And these sculpted lemmings have slightly modern design.

Wow great photos the little fellas really have a lot of detail and are very well made.

I see you took the motorbike rather than the pedal power

I think the basic lemming cartoon didn't change much from the first versions

http://hol.abime.net/875/boxscan

3d lemmings on the playstation was rubbish no one is going to have fond memories of that game.

Guys this is such good stuff I've put the photos from Zoltar and info provided by SyX on HOL under Miscshot. So everyone looking up Lemmings on HOL in the future can enjoy these too.

Sorry gunni I used Zoltars photos as the light on them seemed to be a bit better, it must have been a the time of the day. If you have any more different shots let me know and I add these too.

That's so silly that I should have thought of it myself . [/QUOTE]

I guess a good practice would be to ask first the photographers if they are ok with that, although I guess that posting here more or less indicate that they would (or perhaps you discussed this via PM)

We can use HTML links in the HOL entries. I have changed the caption about the press article to show you an example (I must say I have a tendency to forget doing those most of the time ).

However, I would rather put the various pieces of information you have placed here and there as captions in the Notes section of the entry.
I have not changed them in order to let you practice (and perhaps some other HOL members will voice their opinion on the matter), but if needed I'll take care of it.

I always try to give these wee buggers a pat on the head when I'm through in Dundee. I feel like I've missed out on something if I go home without saying hello
