Bizarre audio errors on M1 Mac running OS 12.4
I've been experiencing some odd audio issues running FS-UAE on a Mac Mini. Crackling and intermittent glitches with the default audio settings on a computer that is certainly fast enough to handle Amiga 500 emulation. Opening up the FS-UAE debug overlay during games or demos reveals these audio glitches. I have tried multiple audio outputs as well, and they all seem to suffer from this same issue. Changing the buffer size does not fix the problem and it persists with both vsync on and off. Just curious what might be causing these issues.

Hi, I'm not sure what's going on. Traditionally, FS-UAE audio on Macs has been reliable. Can you paste an screenshot of the debug overlay?

It might be tricky to take a screenshot due to the timing, as the issues are brief and sporadic, and also seem to happen often minutes apart. Using the beta and the latest version of FS-UAE 4 do not seem to have this issue. I'm perplexed as to what might be causing this as you said audio is very solid on macs with FS-UAE. Appreciate the response! I might just have to hold out for FS-UAE 4 stable.

I'm actually get the same errors on the latest beta as well, but FS-UAE 4 seems to work fine for now.

I’m am experiencing some of the same issues with sound. Small pops and cracks, especially when running Ægis Sonix 2. Can post images of debug overlay later. Running FS-UAE on a late 2016 MacBook Pro . Would have no problem running I think.

I had this issue with WinUAE when display was directdraw not directx. CPU power was hogged by redraw and sound was terrible.

What Amiga model(s) are you emulating? Does the problem always appear? Or only when emulating specific models (for example A3000/A4000?). Does the problem also occur when playing floppy-based games on the default A500 model?

Is this M1 version compiled in Xcode? It's an Xcode M1 silicon bug. Try upgrading Xcode and recompiling. This static sound issue has been driving me mad with apple dev lately. At one point it seemed to be totally gone but it's back again....
