Yeah I wonder how these tags could be abused for so long without anyone noticing?
It's quite sad. Some people should know better.

Eh, it has been noticed and discussed in private. It would've been mentioned in public, but experience shows that pointing out abuse of site features leads to personal abuse directed at oneself (the reaction of a number of members to the debate about a certain now-defunct sub-forum of EAB comes to mind). Well, unless one starts one's threads with "oi pricks" apparently.

Tags are cool for website with daily content (like newsflow or blogs), they help search engine to focus on fresh topics.
For me, they are totally useless for one "archive forum" like EAB. I prefer google index the whole board without looking at user generated "tag cloud".

i have no objection to the removal of the feature, and completely understanding your reasoning. (also, it's your site, you can do what you like with it!) I'm just not sure I agree with the "manner" of what lead to its removal.

I totally agree with you, but you just have to accept it as a normal occurrence of the internet. Calling the mods and admin pricks seems to force them into action, which is something I will remember next time I have an issue with the site. A presidence has been set.

I didnt see what harm they were causing, but if they had to go, then I spose they had to go.

Wasn't hinting at that (didn't even notice), but the title and tone of the first post would make a good one I guess

No, I remember the posts, and it was nothing bad.
Just some good points.

I don't quite understand why Ian hasn't reported this properly to the moderators!!

anyway the tags have been removed and hopefully this has resolved ian's initial complaint. This thread has served its purpose and is being closed.. Any issues PM myself or one of the other GMs please
