My guess would be that if it's installed to a PC drive, the Windows attributes have priority. It's probably possible if it were installed to an HDF image.

If AmigaOS is installed on a Windows partition, then you can only set the protection bits that can be adequately mapped to the Window's flags. This is mentioned somewhere in the docs. Twistin' is right, a HDF will solve that problem.
Then again, I'm not sure "Object not of required type" is caused by this? What is the type of the file you are trying to alter (data file, executable etc)? |

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have probably installed it incorrectly. From the OS3.9 cd I created an emergency disk adf, then I formatted the hard drive from it,then I installed OS3.9 the result being that only the R and E bits were set.
I have reinstalled it this way: Used the adf`s created from my original Workbench 3.0 and HD-install disks to install OS 3.0. Installed Idefix97 for the CD Upgraded from OS3.0 to OS3.9 using the OS3.9 CD. A perfect installation and all protection bits are now set correctly. Thanks again for your replies |
