No reason to flame! It's a fact of life that everyone has different experiences with different OSes, I mean I absolutely hated ME since it brought my machine to halt on many an occasion. But at the end of the day it MUST be better for you since you've got first hand experience. Each to their own, for sure |

It's running like a dream! One thing I couldn't figure out though is if it's still possible to switch off extra floppydrives which was possible in the previous install I ran.... But the setup for display and filter is much better now. Thumbs up!

I've copied wnaspi32.dll to WinUAE's directory and the option "uaescsui.device" is enabled. After start, I see window "NeroApix" with text " could not open driver. trying system ASPI"
What's wrong |

I used to have WinUAE running in a window of 1280x1024 without any DirectX or OpenGL.
It doesnt seem like I can do that any more. Am I wrong? |

It should be no problem to run it without DX or OpenGL. I run it using the nullfilter on a winXP system without problems.
[edit] Woopz, I misunderstood your question. You mean without any of it installed... Sorry, I haven´t tried that. |

But seriously, Win2k or XP are miles better than any DOS based Windows. |

no hardmoon, i have both installed. Its just that with null filter on now you can only do things 1x. Id like to be able to do 2x thats all.

Ah, ok well then I have the same problem as you have I guess. I can't run OpenGL or DirectX filters either... It doesn't really bother me too much since I run UAE in windowed mode with, as I mentioned earlier, the null filter to adjust the height and width.
I happen to have a crappy SIS650 videochip on my laptop. It's probably a driver thing I'm sure. At work I can run UAE without problems in OpenGL mode. What's your videocard/chipset on your machine? |

Since we are talking about problems
It's been a rather minor problem for a few versions now but some times i hate to see it. Anyway did any one notice that when using amiga 500 settings chipset keeps changing itself to ECS? it stays to OCS only if after starting the emulator and press F12 you change it once more to OCS.

I know what you mean. But since i didn't see any messages and been able to select it after starting the emulator, i thought it would be normal to have a 1 MB chip ram amiga 500.
I must be more careful to where i put the word bug from now on ;-) |

Old news . . .
I was just looking over some old posts and came across this old thread (I was complaining about the newer versions of WinUAE not working on my system).
After reading it, I realized that I never mentioned that I later found the problem (or rather the problem found me). It turned out that I had an overheating CPU. I'm not sure why the newer versions of WinUAE were the first to show problems, but after this post, I started having all sorts of "issues" with various bits of software. The overheating problem has been corrected and everything behaves as it should now (plus I finally installed XP for good a few months back). Now if we could only get the zip archives back . . . (ever the complainer) |

This is the wrong forum for this kind of thread and it should be locked or it remains popular and misleads newbies. Actually with every new winuae release previous "version x is released" threads should be locked.
