@Warfalcon: me either, i was drunk

edit: when you play the game a couple of times you will know that you don't need trainer
btw you can use cheat codes instead...
Trainers are as old as the scene itself. Absolutely no need to discuss its existence. If YOU do not need one, do not use it. Why would anyone bother trying to find and remember a cheat code when there is a trainer available when you are stuck.

There's no icon included in the Aminet download version. Might I trouble you fine people for one? Or if it's strictly a feature of the commercial version, I might look into making my own.

Hehe, some years ago this game would have received at 4 out of 10 points on any magazine due to repetetive/uninspired gameplay, lousy gfx and no music. Now, its on the cover of a magazine. Time has changed (in a bad way).

Hehe, some years ago people were employed full time by the companies and were making games to make money. These people created game in spare time, not being paid for that. What do you expect? Another Chaos Engine or Alien Breed? Get real.

Most of the companies you are talking about consisted of 1-3 people only. Have a look at the real blockbusters, they were made by not even a handful of people. Not talkin about the smaller games which were solo projects very often. Tanks Furry is a commercial game and still for sale. Yeah, it is cheap but else he would not have been able to sell at least one copy.

Aside from that, it does not take an army to create more than a simple shooter. Have a look at the latest amiga releases like Zerosphere, Sqrxz, Moebius Goatlizard etc. All free to play games, all have a much more creative gameplay, all made by a tiny team or single person. So, there is absolutely nothing that TF offers in comparison to these titles.

It is not that I disrespect the programmers work, I just cannot understand the hype about this title which has 1990's public domain standards at best.

I have different opinion in this subject. For me TF is very good game, great for party, You can play it in coop or death match for four players. I like arcade feel of this game, action took place on one screen, there is lot of small details like hero avatar on status bar or well animated objects that can be destroyed, You can destroy nearly everything in this game and it feels great to watch how those small tanks eradicate entire town, or train yard, or some fortifications. game also require some brains, You can not spam bullets and need to think when shoot and when change Your tank position. There is hype because game is fun to play, that's all
If Zerosphere or Moebius were commercial games I would buy them too.

Just for clarification: Tanks Fury IS NOT a commercial game. It is a PD game with a possibility to buy it boxed.

It is the same with Sqrxz and Moebius Goatlizzard, they also had a boxed version for sale.

It actually is true, for both games were boxed collectors editions for sale but they came much later AFTER the free to download versions were available on the developers page. For Moebius it was even a special version called DX.

I do not disagree that the multiplayer component gives the game at least some replay ability but that is absolutely all worth mentioning to this release. I experienced the AI tanks somewhere between border-moronic and completely braindead.

What's wrong with hyping good public domain games?
I don't recall anyone saying this is better than Apidya or anything.
Or do you just have something against being positive? :-)

Aye.

Personally I enjoy an active Amiga/Retro scene, and if that activity increases a little bit by me spending a few bucks now and then; Im all for it.
It might even encourage the coders to produce more titles, and even bigger ones.

Judging by the popularity of the Vampire, there is quite the market out there (in amiga terms).
