Is Zoom secure to use now? Your opinion?

Hi there!
What do you think is Zoom secure enough to use it? If not then what are the alternatives you use yourself?

According to some specialists that were interviewed recently on the main CH radio : No, zoom is not secure.
When I need video calls , I tend to use Tox : https://tox.chat/

Secure for what? For 99.99% of what most people are video chatting about these days? Probably? For top secret classified work? Definitely not.

Our ICT Department won't let us use Zoom. (NHS)

Teams is the only system they support at the minute.

Which is understandable, companies have to live by different standards because they have to show to the outside world that they take things seriously. If only to maintain a shiny ISO certification.

But said IT department / security office knows perfectly well that Teams is no better or worse than Zoom. The only difference is that Zoom has/had known issues, which means it became a sacrifice for a good harvest of corn. It is only a matter of time before the table turns again to Teams, or Discord, or whatever.

We need a rule that you can't start new topics unless you have 5 or 10 posts...

I heard that Mozilla specialists examined Zooms security and they don't recommend to use it. They didn't recommend to use Discord either for the same reason. In 2020 it turned out that lots of famous soft developers are very poor in terms of providing high level security. Taking into account that working from home is a 2020 trend then it is really strange that soft developers don't secure their clients' accounts in a proper way. This article says that it is not hard.

I still like using the old String and Tin Cans method, everybody can hear you scream into the ends of the cans

What's really fun is if you try using the old FAX method of sending your conversation, peeps really look strangely at you then

Unless you're discussing state secrets Zoom is fine.

If you're discussing midget pron, anything classified/top secret then use something with end to end encryption or;

a) Meet at a disused airfield

b) Tape your message onto tape recorder and place it at a secret location only the recipient knows about.

c) Use military radio

d) Have your discussion on a night club dance floor (you may need to use sign language)

e) Use an Enigma machine

f) Use flash lights/morsecode

g) Build a tree house and climb up there together

Plenty of options.

We use Zoom even for enterprise meetings, but we also have our own VPN endpoints.

Just depends on which despot government you DO NOT WANT to listen to your private conversation...

Hint: They ALL listen so encryption is a must!

Below is awesome!
