talking about OTLA, with a friend we have devised a tape loader scheme, which allows a huge game like Turrican 2 on CPC to be loaded in 3 min (title + main code), and 1mn for each level (each is around 30-31kb). The scheme works at 3600 bauds hehe.
Just for the ref, even a soupped-up C64 can't achieve that ahah ex: shadow dancer on C64 main code loads like a dead dog (takin' a poo' and drinking a coffee), in 5 good mins, add then the loading time for each level, the same game with our loader (the CPC version is richer and meatier than the C64 version, so more to load) loads in 1m20 and each level loads in 30-40sec on CPC. Great heh ? |
