I remember an old freeware or shareware game called Cybernetix that was pretty good for playability.

Yeah Cybernetix was very good for a shareware release, better than a lot of the commercial releases!

Battle Squadron for me.
Im surprised Xenon 2 is that unpopular, not that I like it much (except the title music), but I always thought its one of the most-loved Amiga-Games. |

Struggling between Banshee and Project X I chose Banshee because it was for AGA and it has much better sense of variety in the matter of enemies, scenery, backgrounds...
