Verify that the power cables are similar to this:
http://www.hardwarebook.net/connecto...oardpower.html or this: http://www.hardwarebook.net/connecto.../atxpower.html |

Well,it doesn,t really look like either of them, becasue rather than going to say 1 or 2 connectors that would connect to a motherboard, this one connects directly to the on\off button on my tower.

I don't get it.. Can you post pictures of the old PSU and where all the wires coming out of it go?

Hmm ok..
It's probably an AT power supply judging by the fact that you mentioned that there was a cable going to the tower's power switch? If you look at the cables that connect to your busboard or motherboard, you should see connectors similar to the first URL I posted. If not, you'll need to modify the AT power supply. An ATX supply will not have the correct connectors, but one of those can also be modified to work. |

99% this is a standard AT power supply.... just order one from a good computer shop... they still have them (at least here) but they cost more...

When I asked for pictures, I was mainly looking for pictures of the connectors going to the mobo/busboard. :-)

Look at the first URL I posted.. Are the colours the same as in connector P8? Judging from the picture, they might be, but you can turn the connector in your hand and verify.

Ok, then you need to select the correct voltages from the AT power supply and plug them into your existing plug.

Yeah.. Pesky Amiga tower manufacturers, some really had the obsession to make things proprietary. I mean the P8 and P9 connectors all had all the voltages they needed, I bet it'd have been cheaper to make them take unmodified AT power supplies instead of these own non-standard jobs.
Thankfully my RBM tower uses a stock standard ATX PSU with an adapter cable in between.. Lucky on my behalf - I didn't really even think about this issue when selecting the tower. Then again, back when I bought it, you could either buy the RBM or .. well yeah that was the only one available in .fi in 1999. :-) |
