RAM-handler has a bug?

ahi-handler indeed goes in L: and ahi.device in DEVS:

The changes should only affect KS3.0, I'll update it anyway for V1.0g...

V44.24 is buggy, see http://lilliput.amiga-projects.net/TechDetails.htm

Yes, will fix for V1.0g.

** Quick Update **

The Ram-Handler 44.23 had a BSS hunk which caused a problem with Remus. I emailed a fixed version to Minuous for the next BB4 release... Next, we are waiting for Gulliver to update the BB4 archive on his site (hint).

OK, V1.0g has been released, with the abovementioned improvements:

I have been using ram-handler 44.24 for a long time. Could it have corrupted any of my files? What is the bug?

Unarc I suspect using XADmaster.lib has problems extracting newer (=lhd=) lha archives to RAM: (on every new dir you get an error requester).
Old versions unpack without problems.
Any chances of fixing this, or maybe by adding a new external lha client?

I have posted to forums about this. Someone have to update xad like OS4.1 version since lha is built inside xad.library as far as I know.

I don't know how this happened but Workbench prefs causes reboot when I try to unhide a partition. Using the old Workbench prefs (I backed it up) this problem is does not happen. Can anyone confirm?

EDIT: Changed the stack of Workbench prefs program from 4096 to 8192 and problem fixed. Do I have to use stackattack (which by the way is an essential program and should be included with boingbag3&4. Also mcpramlibpatch) even if I use cosmos's exec 45.25.28?

What is the deficons.prefs file that is included inside Prefs drawer? Double clicking it causes a crash here. Shouldn't it be inside Envarc:?

It shouldn't be there and can be deleted.

>Changed the stack of Workbench prefs program from 4096 to 8192 and problem fixed.

Neither GhostBuster nor BB3&4 currently replace the original Workbench.info file, which has a stack of 4096 bytes. In future, will replace Workbench.info with one with 8K stack.

>even if I use cosmos's exec 45.25.28?

I don't know, as I don't use exec 45.25.28.

>Also mcpramlibpatch

I'm not familiar with this, do you have a link?

http://mcp.a1k.org/files/mcp1_48.lha

It's inside mcp archive. It patches ramlib which has a very low stack and it can cause lots of software failures. mcpramlibpatch prevents this together with stackattack.

mcp itself is harmless to run (together with patchcontrol) There are some essential patches it can activate like assignwedge and very useful features like activate on workbenchtitle, pointer blanker, screen activation, Alert History.

It also has a neat no-guru feature which would be very useful for developers I guess. Solid Window Sizing and especially solid window moving are great for people who have rtg and/or a fast processor.

Well, mcpramlibpatch perhaps, but I'd prefer not to bloat it with the entire MCP package. Everyone has a favourite multi-function commodity, and not everyone has RTG etc.

the ram disk on BB4 shows 100% full ! missing patchram maybe ?
http://aminet.net/search?query=patchram

Clean RamDisk and Delete RamDisk is obsolete since the vdisk.device is removed from previous releases.

the layers.library should be optional, couz its conflicts with the fastlayers.library(part of picasso96)

The layers.library docs say that you should remove or rename fastlayers.library in Libs:Picasso96.

I know it BB4 has no layers.library docs to read....... so for the beginners make the layers.library optional.
