Capital Punishment

Hi,
I just get a black screen when running capital punishment on my amiga 1200 with 2mb fast ram - I have tried a boot disk but that does not work - it is the same on winuae - could this just be bad set of disks?

Capital Punishment it needs more Chip memory, at that time they made a patch to remedy. If you play Capital Punishment to CLI From Early Startup Control the game starts

Heya ScottC2010,

I'm sure I had a similar issue when installing for myself.

According to HOL:

Quote:
[2] Min. Requirements: AGA chipset, 2MB chipram, HD (game must be played from HD).
Make sure you apply these updates: http://cd.textfiles.com/amigama/amig.../download.html

It does the above on the real amiga too, I have tried deleting setpatch and running with no startup sequence and starting from the cli

When I get home from work this evening I'll send you my personal .HDF for use in WinUAE

...if all is good you could then package up the files and transfer across to your real Amiga.

Thanks Damian - just got this to work - looks like some of the files did not extract from the floppies - I downloaded a whd executable for fs-uae that had all of the missing files then transferred them to the hard disk in winuae and then to the amiga

Heya Stevo,

This was one of the first .HDF games that I ever installed

...back then I didn't know what I do now so did the following:

  • Installed Workbench 3.1.
  • Installed Capital Punishment.
  • Applied the following patches.
a) CP upgrade 1.1 LHA archive
b) CP level cheat

Of course I cannot upload this .HDF to public as it has Workbench 3.1 installed...

Anyway, since you asked very politely and I'm a nice guy, I've now created a bare bones / self-booting .HDF for ya

Grab it from The Zone! or from the EAB File Server under the directory "~Uploads/DamienD/HDFs".

Do let me know if there are any issues though as I quickly slapped this together and tested

Great, thanks I might try it too and thanks for your help as the only thing now is the menus in German but I can live with that

Wow that's brilliant. Thanks very much Mister! I will give it a try out right now.

EDIT: Awesome work Damien! It works flawlessly! First time I've seen it properly working in WinUAE. Damn it's hard!

Agreed, it is difficult.

I watched a longplay the other day and whoever was playing made it look sooooo easy...

Also, take a look at the HOL Cheatcode section for hints

Definitely one of the hardest games I played. Especially the first battle. Once you get over it each enemy has a technique beat them.
