Anyone else with input I can try? It seems strange to me, that the IDE controller should become disfunctional when a 4060DT is installed?

Do you have any other ATA HD to try? Maybe there something in the RDB of that drive preventing it from booting. Which version of FFS is installed on that drive?

I've tried several standard ATA HD's, with the same results - the system simply won't post.
On a positive note, the SCSI-IDE adapters arrived yesterday, and the SCSI controller on the 4064DT can see the drives. Have to install the drivers for the card, but I need to put the CF in a PC and do it in WinUAE or from "boot with no ss" if I can figure it out I'd like to thank you guys for your input, especially you Tumo007 - it is much appreciated . I'll focus my attention on getting the system up with the SCSI-HD adapters for now - I haven't been able to use my Amiga in a week, and am in serious need of some Amiga time now |

Your welcome! I hope you'll resolve it someday. I'm knocking on wood, my ATA drive is still working on my A4000.
Wait a minute! It's only working with ide_scsi.device V43.x. I must patch the device on cold boot, if not the drive won't boot on the next reset. But I still get to the purple boot screen. Someday the fog will clear on this mystery Last edited by Tumo007; 21 May 2010 at 16:51. Reason: typos |

Can I expand on this a bit then ?
Consider this a BUMPITY BUMP ! Okay, here goes (After reading the thread) A4000 Cyberstorm 060 MK II. CyberSCSI adapter. (128MB Ram). CF > IDE on the IDE chain. Indivision AGA/4000/CD32. Skyent (SKYNET) PSU - 145W. Now. I wanted to use SCSI to IDE adapter on the Cyberscsi, so I could run the CF off of the SCSI, and ultimately Terminate out the IDE. I found that *EVERY TIME* I tried to put the CF adapter on the Bridge (R-IDSC), it WOULD NOT BOOT. Black Screen..., Never reached boot. Or it DID reach boot, would scan the CF, and PERMANENTLY lock up. So I would Try an IDE drive on the SCSI bridge.., Boots fine. Leave IDE DRIVE on the SCSI bridge, put CF card back on the IDE. CF card boots, but PROMPTLY locks up during boot. To date, I have gone back to REMOVING the CyberSCSI and LEFT the CF card on IDE..., the system boots fine. The *ONLY* conclusion I can come to (and i could be wrong), is that as the Amiga power supply ages, the components lose their full capability to run at their rated Maximum efficiency.., meaning instead of 18A on +5V, it might be only operating at 17A or 16A Maximum..., and all these new stuff we plonk in.., the Power supply cant handle it, and we get some *WEIRD* stuff going on. You are not the only one in this circumstance..., At the *VERY LEAST* remove the components from the A4000 supply and replace with *NEW ONES*, to bring it back up to Peak efficiency..., or start thinking about a Higher rated replacement.., I have a 30A on +5V ATX, but its TOO BIG for my case, at least, it overlaps the Motherboard |
