Internal IDE for A500(and possibly 1000/2000)
Hello my dear EAB friends, once again I'm proud to present you a new project This project was done by a finnish dude, I believe he's bluea who asked some gayle emulation questions in this thread, and the guy Alexh mentioned here.
Anyway, he's recently finished his project and announced at amiga.org. I quickly purchased one board from him and my parcel from Suomi arrived today. I just tried it and I'm glad to say it works great As far as I understand, the board emulates a gayle chip, so you're getting some A600 functionality for your A500. You probably need a kickstart > 37.350 for this board to work (I just tried with 3.1 and 2.04 (37.175) which naturally didn't work.). I installed a fresh 3.1 workbench and installed IDE-FIX. Then mounted a CD-Rom drive as slave and it worked just like on a A600 The only catch with this hardware is it needs to fetch some signals from the expansion slot. It's quite easy really, as signal exist side by side (pins 17 and 19 of expansion slot) I will invite him to EAB too so we can discuss with him about other projects An internal A500 board with 8 mb fast ram ? Btw, this project also based on a Xilinx CPLD. Project Page Gotta love Finland. They gave us WinUAE, Blizkick, Linux, Lordi and now this Last edited by coze; 28 February 2008 at 16:59. |

I've asked if it is possible to get one
I'd love to have an A500 with a HD to get some coding done some day Btw, it costs 40 € for the board and 5 € for postage in Europe ! Quite cheap compared to ebay. |

If you bought one of those CD32WSI Floppy disk's from Analogic you'd have a great platform for developing one. Whip out the RTC board and plug in your own 4Mbyte RAM plus CF board

Hmm, I almost ordered one from Mika when he announced those at the saku board, but then I realised I don't really have a machine to put it in. :-)

Hello.
I'm not the same person as Bluea, who asked about the Gayle specifics, and if you look at the post, he tells his name is Thomas. I got the information to do the "Gayle emulation" from this russian amiga hack from Aminet: http://aminet.net/search?query=hddmem That project also adds fast ram and rom on an external PCB. |

Awesome!
OK, now I'm "horny". I'll make a board for me too! I have a lot of old IDE HDs surrounding. And 2 A500 and an unexpanded A2000 to start to play. |
