Deep games for this pandemic period

Lets please have some recommenedations for some deep(long) games to be played over this period when many of us will be stuck in doors becuase of that virus.

I am talking games that you need to put many hours to complete.

With your suggestion please put if you think they are easy to get into or not .

For example, Frontier. Always want to play this but find it hard to get into

Amiga games, or games in general?

If you like Frontier, I can also suggest Subwar 2050. I really enjoyed that game.

For a PC: The Way, FEZ, Machinarium.

Civilization is the obvious choice: Civ I on the Amiga or Civ V and VI on the PC. There is a bit of a learning curve.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is really engrossing and fairly easy to get into.

Stardew Valley is a real time sink and you can play it in co-op too.

Ultima VI on the Amiga or Skyrim and The Witcher 3 on the PC. Ultima VI is a bit more hardcore if you are used to modern RPGs.

RTS campaigns or skirmishes are a good idea e.g. the Battle for Middle-Earth series, Company of Heroes, Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, Dawn of War. The mechanics are all reasonably similar.

Some older action RPGs e.g. Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect 1&2, Dragon Age: Origins, Alpha Protocol.

Exploration games: Spore, No Man's Sky, Subnautica.

Other ideas: the Thief series, Advance Wars, the Jedi Knight series.

Amiga:
Civilization - there's no game in this world (imho) that makes time runs faster. You can start playing (for example) at 20h, and you play 2-3 hours, and then you realize it's not 2-3 hours, but it's 5-6AM and the dawn is approaching.
To get into it easily, I suggest looking at some youtube gameplay videos.

K240 - amazing realtime strategy, very fun for playing. Easy to learn.

Frontier - Yeah, that's a good choice. It's not really hard to get into. I also suggest watching some youtube gameplay videos, and you're good to go... it's really easy, once you get into it.

Wing Commander - You can play this straight from the start, no learning needed really, and it's not open world like Frontier, but it's a bunch of missions with great campaign, story, and characters.

PC:
Civilization 3 (my favorite), Master of Orion 2, Starcraft 1 and 2, Stronghold, Gothic and Gothic 2 (amazing RPG's), Mafia 1 and 2 (always liked it more then GTA)... etc

Yes, Civilization is perfect. Or UFO - Enemy Unknown. Maybe Battle for Wesnoth, if you have a NG-Amiga. I would prefer these. Others may like Settlers or Dune, a dungeon crawler, or some Point and Click adventures...

Many great games already mentioned. Such as Civilization, Settlers, Dune and various RPG's. Same with Frontier. Another game mentioned was Subwar 2050 and I'd like to second that. It's a very nice game and I remember spending hours on it.

I'd also offer up Eye of the Beholder and Eye of the Beholder II (and other great dungeon crawlers like Dungeon Master & Dungeon Master 2). Great games for sure.

Why not try to get into Frontier.

My advice is to grind the fruit and veg / robots and computers run between Barnards Star and Sol. Start at Ross 159, load up with fuel then fly to Sol. Dock at any space station. Sell off the missiles, scanner, laser and atmospheric shielding. Refuel the ship, buy 1 more fuel then load up with fruit and veg and head for barnards star. Dock at any space station, check the bulletin board for fruit and veg wanted advertisements (they pay double) and if not just sell usually, load up with robots or computer then head back to sol. Keep doing this run for about 20/30 minutes and you'll soon have enough money to upgrade to a better ship then after about an hour or so you'll be able to afford an ASP which will open up the game a lot. Or if you want to go quicker with some action switch to the robots / animal skins (i think) run between Barnards Star and Ross 159. You may be attacked in Ross 159 and you may get fined in Barnards Star for smuggling but quick saving helps get around this

Beyond that Colonisation is a favourite of mine. Great game, for me I prefer it to Civ as its more involved in colony management.

Nah... too easy.
He should figure out trade routes by himself.
Knowing this trade route is almost like cheating for me.

All that automation makes a dogfights a little bit boring, imho.

If you manage to get the relative speed between you and the enemy low enough it gets quite exciting. Problem is most engagements happen while you're travelling ludicrously fast.

If you really like Frontier, current PC version, 'Elite Dangerous' is nice time killer due to game being more on simulation of space then arcade. I dread even logging, as if I get hooked again, I will be spending months lurking through galaxy...

Just finished Far Cray Primal, which has interesting story, lots of stuff to do, but not very long, if you go only after the story. It gets better if you try Permadeth mode mixed with Hardcode settings. (good luck )

Since we are talking about pandemic, A Plague Tale - Innocence - what a story... Just crazy good game that is finishable in 15-20 hours for casual gamer.

On Amiga - The Settler, Battle Island, History Line, Civilization and Colonization are all good time killers.

Terraria, Stardew Valley (someone already mentioned it) and Starbound are also nice games.

If you have xbox game pass (or if you don't now is time to try it for 1 of whatever currency you are using), HALO (both MCC and strategy games) are available, as well both AoE games and few other from Paradox. (Some of them are real time killers, like Surviving Mars, Stellaris and Age of Wonders - Planetfall - all very long strategy games)

Seems that My Friend Pedro is also funny shooter game that reminds me of Deadpool.

Nah, only Kaillera support in WinUAE would most likely bring joy and happiness to the secluded masses. Amounts to cry out in the wilderness though, Toni made it clear it's far from top priority AFAIK.
