Crash when loading anything with WHDload
I am experiencing a crash when opening any games with WHDload. In the past this problem was sometimes but since a few month it became unusable!
The guru number is 002EDEB8 and happens nearly IMMEDIATILY after the program loads. whdload is registered and I have an A600 + Viper '030 and os/ks 3.1 edit: the guru number is always different! what can it be? |

That would be really bad as it's surface soldered!
How can I check it? |

Is it just WHDLoad that has problems?
Have you got a Stack running in the background? |

Try a full memory test: http://aminet.net/util/moni/MemTest.lha
Other thing could be the 630 has moved off its mounting: I've got a 620 and need to reseat it every so often... |

Thanx for the replies!
Memory test tells everything is fine. It happens ONLY with WHDload. When laungìching the ecetutable. Also the cd32 executable has the same problem. I will try to secure better the expansion but it sounds strange to me, it works ok on the rest! |

Try to set the NoMemReverse tooltype (remove the ";" in this line) in s:whdload.prefs.

Issuing a "version WHDload" responses I have already 16.9 [build 4672]
The program is also registered (to me) and has been working in the beginning! first some games crashed that way and now ALL of them. Also when running alone, from the shell, I don't go further of hitting returm ( |

maybe you have changed your system since it worked somehow (installing some patches for example)?
have a backup form the times it has worked? or you have a slowly dying hardware problem... |

that would be sad
I tried another system and there IT WORKS! So it must be a software problem! |

Have you tried booting with no startup-sequence?
Reset Amiga, and hold down both mouse buttons until the Early Startup Menu activates, and click on the 'no startup-sequence' option and see if that fixes things. Could be something loaded in the startup-sequence that is causing grief to WHDLoad. |

I tried yet. Everything hangs, no guru, but it hangs. Now as I said I managed to run one game with another workbench and I'm investigating about that.

Have you tried replacing WHDload in C, it may have become corrupted.

I did think of that but also the CD32 executable has the same problem. And also another executable in a different workbench installation crashes.

You really have nothing to lose by replacing WHDload and WHDloadCD32 in the C drawer, at least it will eliminate one more possibility.

There are some developments in the problem. Removing the Viper board or setting the system with NoFastRam tool WHDload starts flawlessly. But with only 2mb of chip ram I am unable to run any game anyway.
Someone has something to suggest about this? what can I try to do? |

True but after running two different memtests I stopped thinking it was the memory.
It is not so easy to change the ram as it's soldered! |
