I have seen a "red" rule in the lemon thread. Maybe it has to be added here as well

^ Yeah: DON'T MILK THE TRASH TUNNEL!

Btw., there are so many impressive ROM-hacks of SNES&Genesis-games. Wonder how feasible it would be to replace the 1-ups and powerup-pickups with their T2-versions, add the T2-voice samples and diamonds collect sound and a copper background instead of the blue sky (the last idea is probably impossible to add).

Anyway, as it is it's still the 2nd best Amiga game ever.

John has provided a Gif to give an example of the trash tunnel. There is only one of these in the game, and so the rule is to avoid taking more than 4 seconds to get through it.

In this example, the player uses power lines to get over the gap, you can also use smart bombs here, or the surround laser. Basically be prepared to rush through this section with minimal time loss. John says 2 seconds should be the maximum time required, but we can say 4 seconds, for those who are slower to operate the surround laser and jump over the gap.

Turrican Controls:
Space - Power Lines
Down + Fire = Mine
Alt = Smart bomb
Hold Fire = Surround Laser
Down + Space = Spikey ball

Disk Operation
Some cracks of this game flash the screen when the player is supposed to change disks for the two disk version. Unfortunately it can also do this on badly cracked single disk versions. Sometimes the game crashes just before the end screen on the old WHDload version, so please take screenshots after killing the final boss to make sure. You get 5000 per life at the end, when you escape in the ship.

I've just cut this out from a 2008 longplay I found on Youtube. Let's always allow the surround laser for this, just do it quickly. No milking.

A note to the autofire lemon discussion:

I have an Quick Shot II Turbo where I reworked the upper fire button to autofire. I have done the following modifications (from my memory, I am in holidays now and cannot look at the stick now):
- I have soldered a ~500 Ohm resistor in the +5 V line for safety.
- I cut the connection between the fire line / + 5 V mode switch and the top hat connection on the circuit board (between the mode switch and the resistor leading to the top hat fire button) - and if I remember correctly I made a permanent connection from the resistor to the fire line.
- I inserted an additional wire between the autofire power supply and +5 V on the circuit board so autofire runs always.
- I inserted an additional wire between autofire output circuitry and the top hat instead of the ground wire and removed the wire that goes from the one hat to the other within the handle. The ground wire is on the side hat button only.

Warning: An unmodified Quick Shot II Turbo stick may burn your game port when switching to the CPC464 position, so make sure that you solder at least the 500 Ohm resistor in the +5 V line before connecting it to your computers (I soldered the resistor sidewise to the circuit board and isolated it with some electrical tape).

I think the modification can also be applied to similar sticks with a side hat and top hat button and an autofire / normal fire mode position.

I find such a stick very handy for games that have different effects for holding fire and pressing rapidly fire as the Turrican series on the Amiga or Herbert 1+2 on the Atari 800 computer. It is also helpful for Leander.

Turrican II was the reason I bought a Competition Pro Star. It had normal firebuttons and little triangular shaped rapid-fire buttons. The fire rate was pretty high, too.

Did not milk the tunnel.

I feel about this game the same as I did Turrican 3. Very sprawling and chaotic. I had no strategy for the bosses besides dropping all my power ups then standing still and lasering. That probably shouldn't be effective, but it is!

Also I swear they copy/pasted that "bone" level into Turrican 3.

Turns out the trash isn't worth any points after all (only in the C64 version) so you're now allowed to milk the trash tunnel to your heart's content.

The Trash Tunnel rule is now no longer required. I also added Youtube Longplays and HOL maps to the first post, to help those struggling.

Still one more week to play this, and just one more day to vote for the next round

For sure, last year mod was a better player ... Not sure EAB is going to win a round this year .

Joke aside, lost too much lives with the blood drops in the Alien level.

Great score.

Wow, 10 people got to the end while only 7 didn't. I think that's a new record.

Thanks john You did a really nice score also. In fact a much better
Next time I will better avoid the blood drops to loose less lives (think I finished the game with 45 or 46 lives). To score as you did, I would say that you finished the game with more than 50 lives. Congratulation !!!

I know the game inside out so it's easy. But it seems to be newish for you - then 1.9+M are massive.

BitD I didn't get hooked by Turrican. Can't even tell you if I ever played it further than the second part of the first world.
One of my friend was able to finish it with his eyes closed and I remember arguing with him how bad/good we thought the game was

I would say, like for the third episode we have played last year, even if the map is huge and you can die because of a time out, I don't consider it as a hard game as you can gather a bunch lot of extra lives on your way to the end.
I didn't count, but it seems to me that I have lost at least as many lives as I had left at the end of the game. For players thinking it's difficult, I would say that the key is to explore the first world (to start with a comfortable amount of lives)

But all in all, I enjoyed playing it and have changed my mind (from BitD) about it
