Raspberry Pi 50hz Amiga emulation

I just heard that the Raspberry Pi is a popular choice among emulation fans because it can do true 50hz. My question is - can it do 50hz if I use a small "portable" screen available for the Raspberry Pi? E.g. one with 800x480 resolution.

I'm sure using a PAL-capable LCD TV would work, but I might as well use a PC with WINUAE or a homebrew-capable PS3 in that case. Although E-UAE for the PS3 is far from being perfect.

My main purpose is to have a handheld device that can do 50hz smooth scrolling...But the Pandora is too pricey and too underpowered for me (single core CPU).
