Why are all the .ADFs for Quiksilver Pinball Simulator named as "Quicksilver Pinball"?

HOL has this as "Quiksilver Pinball Simulator" and WHDLoad has this as "Quiksilver Pinball". The game's title screen just shows "Quiksilver Pinball".

Are we missing some information that you guys know and we don't?

An Amiga Joker review and an Amiga Format coverdisk both list it as "Quicksilver Pinball": http://amr.abime.net/amr_search.php?...=0&action=Find

I'd say they're both wrong and would go with "Quiksilver Pinball Simulator" because:

- Title screen lists it as "Quiksilver Pinball"
- The misc shot on HOL (ad scan maybe?) shows it as "Quiksilver Pinball Simulator"
- The manual on Lemon Amiga, assuming it's typed out correctly, lists it as "Quiksilver Pinball Simulator"

Everything that seems official omits the c.

Floppy disk

I took my Amiga 500 out of the attic, purchased an ACA500+ and I have just dumped some of my original amiga disks which seems absent from Tosec DAT. I did some search with ADFWorkshop which proves to be very efficient !

I have uploaded them in the Zone. It might be of interest for you Amiga Tosec maintainer to add these disks.

Tosec Set: Commodore Amiga - Educational - ADF
ADF Name: Voyage a travers la France (1991)(Esat Software)(FR)
CRC-32: 371a6121
MD5: d5cb422e02c0b4d10bf9ff882fbeca7b
Description : this is an educational game about France.

Tosec Set: Commodore Amiga - Games - ADF
ADF Name: Tom and Jerry 2 (1989)(MagicBytes)
CRC-32: 2a282677
MD5: 1c9dc33319911c7e3351ad237ceccb2d
Description : This release comes form a compilation released in 1990 by Ubi Soft.
This release is very similar to SPS #2229.
All files identical except the TJ executable which is older in the SPS release.
I guess this executable was updated for the compilation and copy protection was removed : there is no crack and this ADF works fine under WinUAE.

Floppy disk

Here are 3 applications disks coming from the french "Starter Pack" bundled with my A500 -- purchased in december 1990 :

Tosec Set: Commodore Amiga - Applications - ADF
ADF Name: KindWords v2.0 (1989)(Disc Company)(FR)(Disk 1 of 2)(Program)
CRC-32: 3e4e7d27
MD5: a61637d62fabc5627dd9bc31f24c4db6
Description : disk sticker shows (c) 1990 but "About..." box shows : version 2.0 (c) 1989
Similar to this Tosec disk "KindWords v2.0 (1989)(Disc Company)(Disk X of 3)" but mine is the french release,
on 2 disks only.

Tosec Set: Commodore Amiga - Applications - ADF
ADF Name: KindWords v2.0 (1989)(Disc Company)(FR)(Disk 2 of 2)(Superfont+Dictionnary)
CRC-32: 858a1ce6
MD5: 698d3e3805b7441a6e7bc2769b37b1e0
Description :

Tosec Set: Commodore Amiga - Applications - ADF
ADF Name: Fusion Paint v1.0.5 (1989)(Disc Company)(FR)
CRC-32: 38a944ab
MD5: 745ff2178c1720614a74380cf2badb1c
Description : disk sticker shows (c) 1990 but "About..." box shows : version 1.0.5 (c) 1989
Similar to this Tosec disk "Fusion Paint v1.0.5 (1989)(Disc Company)" but mine is the french release.

Note : For each disk, I did the operation twice to be confident about the ADF integrity : first dump with TSGui and my internal drive, second dump with ADFer and my external drive. Finally I compared the files and they match for these disks so I am confident about the dump validity.

The set is corrected with a few more hacks

@Jami

Tom and Jerry 2 (1989)(MagicBytes)
It's a copy of Tom and Jerry (1989)(Magic Bytes)[1306]

Tom and Jerry = Tom and Jerry II (with disk protection)

You are right, my original is identical to SPS[1306]. I hadn't noticed it before.

Thanks for the addition of my other disks

@ Crashdisk

Hi,
I have a new tips here.

Games - ADF

1.
Power Ball (1988)(Diamond)[cr TMF][t +2 TMF]
should be
Power Ball (1988)(Diamond)[cr TMF][t +2 TMF][no title screen]

-this version is missing title screen with title music against 2 other versions:
Power Ball (1988)(Diamond)[cr Joy - MGF] and Power Ball (1988)(Diamond)[cr Joy - MGF][t Goonies][KS1.2]
so there should be a note about it (maybe different than "no title screen")

2.
One To One Match (1989)(Electronic Arts)[cr PNA]
should be
One to One Match (1989)(Electronic Arts)[cr PNA]

One To One Match (1989)(Electronic Arts)[cr PNA][m]
should be
One to One Match (1989)(Electronic Arts)[cr PNA][m]

Campaign - From North Africa To Northern Europe (1993)(Empire)[data disk]
should be
Campaign - From North Africa to Northern Europe (1993)(Empire)[data disk]

Campaign - From North Africa To Northern Europe (1993)(Empire)[h Alphalats][data disk]
should be
Campaign - From North Africa to Northern Europe (1993)(Empire)[h Alphalats][data disk]

-whole database uses lower cases "to" in the middle of the names. A few examples:
All Dogs Go to Heaven (1990)(Merit)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr PNA]
Back to the Future Part II (1990)(Image Works)[cr Angels][h Spaikers][t +3 Madrid]
Back to the Future Part III (1991)(Image Works)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CLS]
Buck Rogers - Countdown to Doomsday v1.0 (1991)(SSI)(DE)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CPY][FD-HD]
Cosmic Relief - Prof. Renegade to the Rescue (1988)(DataSoft)(US)
Desert Strike - Return to the Gulf (1993)(Electronic Arts)(Disk 1 of 3)
...
...
...
etc.

That's all

Hi Velociraptor5,

1) For the game, you rightly point out that the title screen is missing. I will rather point out its consequence, there is no level editor ;-)

2) Yes but ... this is a GPO-based writing convention (I guess!?) and not a TNC rule. There are therefore no errors. at worst, inconsistent style between some set compared to others.

Articles: "a", "an", and "the"
Prepositions: "at", "by", "for", "in", "of", "on", "per", "to", and "up"
Conjunctions: "and", "as", "but", "if", "or", and "nor"

I guess the principle is to lowercase words of 3 letters or less but the problem is that over time these recommendations have been extended to make beautifuller text.
ex. : "from", "this", "there", ...

I will modify my datfile verification program to detect this kind of "problem" at least on the basis of the GPO...

@mai
Do you have an opinion on the question?

no idea, not that important this lower - uppercase topic to spent much time on this, is there a TNC rule?

Not that my opinion really matters, but I think these example words in Velociraptor5 and Crashdisk's posts should be lower case.

Tosec sps

The following 2 files are named incorrectly:

Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Broderbund)(FR)[compilation NRJ Vol. 2][2416].zip should be named: Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Domark - Broderbund)[1143].zip

Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Domark - Broderbund)[1143].zip should be named: Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Broderbund)(FR)[compilation NRJ Vol. 2][2416].zip

Each archive contains the wrong file:

Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Broderbund)(FR)[compilation NRJ Vol. 2][2416].zip contains ShufflepuckCafe.ipf should contain ShufflepuckCafe_DiskD.ipf

Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Domark - Broderbund)[1143].zip contains ShufflepuckCafe_DiskD.ipf should contain ShufflepuckCafe.ipf

Fixed...Crashdisk

More Precisely, Shufflepuck Cafe french release should have Broderbund France instead of Broderbund. The game was published by loriciel in France, same as Prince de Perse.

@dlfrsilver
Sorry to disagree with you. There are mistakes, but not in the way you mean. The NRJ compilations are published by Infogrames, so all the games associated with this compilation will be Title (date)(Infogrames).
It is the same when the game is from a budget collection, it is (Kixx), (The Hit Squad) and so on...
Personally, I would have preferred to highlight the studio that developed the title but it would have been complicated to apply it globally

Yes of course, if it is the compilation version, it must be infogrames.

I was simply pinpointing the fact that the french version of shufflepuck cafe was not published here by Domark. But Broderbund France (a subsidiary built by Loriciel with the agreement of Broderbund USA).

Don't worry, the information was used on the ADF set

Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Domark - Broderbund)[cr]
CRC 4B38DA9E
> Shufflepuck Cafe v1.0 (1989)(Broderbund France)(FR)[cr]

@BarryB,
I do not see an error on the name of the archives :
2416 > FRA > Shufflepuck Cafe [Retail: NRJ Vol. 2, v1.0] > ShufflepuckCafe.ipf > CRC 2607B2F7 > FRA version
1143 > ENG > Retail: v1.0 > ShufflepuckCafe_DiskD.ipf > CRC 4B8FC582 > ENG version
The error is in the name of the files inside the archives and it was SPS that made it ... overall, we do not touch that, but I make some exceptions ^^
Thanks for the info

@nobody
Oh my Gosh! Number of ADF files in TOSEC for the game Shufflepuck Cafe : 8 disks (FRA/ENG)
Number of copies found to be analyzed outside of TOSEC : 57 disks (!?)

@ everyone
I found an alteration on the FR and EN version in the filetable.

IPF/CR (EN)

@BarryB,
I do not see an error on the name of the archives :
2416 > FRA > Shufflepuck Cafe [Retail: NRJ Vol. 2, v1.0] > ShufflepuckCafe.ipf > CRC 2607B2F7 > FRA version
1143 > ENG > Retail: v1.0 > ShufflepuckCafe_DiskD.ipf > CRC 4B8FC582 > ENG version
The error is in the name of the files inside the archives and it was SPS that made it ... overall, we do not touch that, but I make some exceptions ^^
Thanks for the info

@nobody

IPF/CR (EN)

Yes, two possibilities:
1. Wrong files in the archive
2. Correct files but with wrong names!

Yes I know, I found several but it doesn't seem (directly) related to saving highscore. The majority of the cases do not present any modification of the file table...
There is something else, either from the human hand or from the program in a specific case.

I've noticed that the following files

Quote:
TOGA 2016-04 (2016-03-20)(The Other Group of Amigoids)(Disk 1 of 5).zip
TOGA 2018-06 (2018-06-13)(The Other Group of Amigoids)(Disk 4 of 5).zip
TOGA 2018-09 (2018-09-15)(The Other Group of Amigoids)(Disk 3 of 5).zip
TOGA 2019-05 (2019-05-24)(The Other Group of Amigoids)(Disk 2 of 5).zip
TOGA 2019-05 (2019-05-24)(The Other Group of Amigoids)(Disk 3 of 5).zip
were removed from the latest release

Quote:
Commodore Amiga - Collections - TOGA (TOSEC-v2021-02-11_CM).dat
I mean, is this an error or why got those files removed?

Some dats files have priority over others. So when the only known copy of a demo is integrated in TOGA and they are not the authors, it will logically be classified in the "Demos - Various" category.

This is the case for this disk:

TOGA 2019-05 (2019-05-24)(The Other Group of Amigoids)(Disk 2 of 5)
> CRC 9F3E8FB2
De Profundis (2019-04-21)(Lemon - Oxygene - The Deadliners)(Disk 1 of 2)[party release]
