Disk to HD Installer?

Hi

I'm looking for a HD installer programe that imaged floppy disks but unfortunately I can't remember the name, I seem to recall it being bundled along with a CD32 game installer? I think the application in question could install older games/demos that had trouble running on newer hardware. Any help would be appreciated.

You might be thinking of Da Cool Installer by Airsoft Softwair. The same guy also did the CD32 Games Install Kit that may have been based on Da Cool Installer.......which HD installed disk games only. Anyway, they're still available on the Airsoft website:

Yes that's it! Thank you. Now to investigate

Update: Yep it works, well on DOS disks anyways, I installed Grapevine Issue 21 (2 disks) and all seemed to work. Now to install the rest

I think you would need to ask his permission to upload it someone.
Try downloading again, as corrupt download, normally means it didnt download fully.

Glad I held off from uploading, wasn't 100% sure on that myself.

Why?
I get the same error from his website, a corrupted file. Would be good to have the proper thing.

That's weird, I clicked on the following link http://www.airsoftsoftwair.de/binary...staller1_7.lha
saved to pc and then unpacked in WinUAE and all seemed fine, what method are you using Akira? Are you using a Windows based app like winrar or winzip to unpack?

Becuase, its not our program. So its always best to ask permission first.
He might not want you to zone it. So this way it covers all angles.
Plus it shows courtesy and respect.

As its an LHA, it would be better to unpack in Workbench enviroment.
EDIT:-It only appears to unpack fine in Workbench, so you would need to do it on real or emulated thing.

No need to create a storm in a teacup.......Da Cool Installer V1.7 has been free for a long time IIRC and is available on Aminet too:

http://aminet.net/package/game/patch/CoolInstaller

The CD32 Games Install Kit was a different story, though, from memory and was shareware all the way through (i.e. it's not available on Aminet) before being made free on the Airsoft website......so you'll have to rely on the website for that one. There are add-ons for it on Aminet, however:

http://aminet.net/search?query=cd32+games+install+kit

Enjoy! If people have any problems with the Aminet link for Da Cool Installer, then anyone can happily upload it to the Zone as it's free.

Thanks for that DrBong... I'm quite tired of the paranoia about uploading files here and whatnot.
The file is freely distributable on the internet on his website. Why the hell not would I be able to upload it here?? The copyright and distribution itself on the archive says that one is free to copy and redistribute the software as long as it is the demo version. Since he released the full version for free, this last bit is rendered useless nowadays (It used to be shareware, hasn't always been free).

As for the corrupted file error, it seems to be WinRAR acting up.

Hmmm, I wonder if the V1.7 Aminet release is free like the one on the Airsoft website? Doesn't look to be - can't check properly here at work. Ah well......upload the one from the Airsoft website to the Zone if the author has given permission for free distribution in the archive. It's not like the Zone is a permanent repository anyway. Hollywood is making him the cash on Amiga these days, hence the legacy d/l area on his website.

Edit: From the readme of the Airsoft archive -

As I don't have any more time to maintain this program, I decided to release
Da Cool Installer as Freeware today. A free keyfile dedicated to the Amiga
community is included in this archive. Live long and prosper!

The package for the software and the keyfile are separate archives. This is explained in the airsoft download.

Let me quote the guy:

You always jump the gun.

Please read what I posted, its more a common courtesy.
I always ask before uploading / hosting a program where possible..
