Amiga CD32 emulation compatibity
OK, I am talking running CD32 games on your Amiga using a CD and an emulator.
In my case, I am using the CD32 emulator that comes with the SurfSquirrel. (Not sure Emulator is really the right word, but...) I was thinking we could list games that work. Games that don't. Workarounds to get games to work. Of course, with WHDLoad there's not much desire, but for those games that use CDAudio, it's nice.. So, to start, my initial tests: (And I haven't played these games in depth yet, so...) ------------- Pirates: Emulator: Squirrel CD32-startup Compatibility: Works PAL Req: No Notes: CD Audio tracks; with my 28Mhz A1200, the menus move pretty fast, sometimes hard to choose option. Simon the Sorceror: Compatibility: Works PAL Req: Yes Notes: In NTSC, some of the bottom is cut off including some commands.. Banshee: Compatibility: Works PAL Req: Yes Notes: CD Audio tracks; In NTSC some of the bottom is cut off and random graphic glitches.. Liberation: Compatibility: Works PAL Req: No Notes: CD Audio Flink: Compatibility: Works PAL Req: No Notes: CD Audio; in-game PAL/NTSC switch. Requires CD32 Joypad or workaround (i.e. fakepad) ----------------- As I have only played these a bit, let me know if there are any omissions (do some of these game actually need a Joypad and I haven't noticed yet?), etc.. Also, I saw a review online of the squirrel and the reviewer mentioned Microcosm working, but when I tried, I just get an invalidated System: drive (that does re-validate itself fine). Should this work? More as I do more testing.. desiv |

You can tweak for each game, it saves the settings. When disc is inserted it see's file and loads settings accordingly. The other thing that helped was to use the CDFS that came with OS3.9. |

You will need to have the disc in drive to set the options, once you launch settings gui. |

No icon, so it was hiding.. There's nothing in the manual about that program, wonder if it was added after release? Looks like it gives me 4 things to enable/disable. I'll poke around with it.. Thanx, desiv |

I don't think Pierre Le Chef is Out To Lunch will work.

What about the titles that specifically say they won't work?
Like DragonStone? There's an entry in TitleMount for it that basically says "don't bother.".... (And there are a few in that folder).. Still not having any luck with my Microcosm.. Keeps invalidating my system disk. I get the Psygnosis logo for a second or 2, then grey screen with the CD light flashing like it's doing something.. But I don't see anything.. Hmm.. desiv |
