Whoa!. Thanks a lot barry. I was interested in the 5,25 floppy version because had the feel of the days when you could walk into a shop and buy c64/amiga games from it.

Only available on disk or as disk images, don't think it had a cartridge release! The Release I posted is the Forever8bit 2001 Party Release which is Appreciationware / Freeware for non-commercial use!

I've been getting back into C64 gaming recently after trying the new updates on the Vice RetroArch core. I was looking at a forum called 'Forum64.de' and they have a collection of EasyFlash, D81, and 1 Disk games in a pack called 'Nirvana Collection'. The only thing is that it's on a server called 'F64 Wolke' that needs some sort of permissions to access. Does anyone have this pack that they could kindly PM me a link to ?

Hmm, I know one pack which is not called "Nirvana Collection", but its from the same forum (no easyflash, but all else and named/structured for SD2IEC). Is that of interest?

Not to worry. I ended up making my own collection. Thanks anyway. I think the people over at forum64.de are using that server as a bribe to get people to use their forum ! I think lemon64 is much better.

Most stupid post so far. You needs a specific amount of non-spam posts before you get access. Same goes for the EAB FTP if you want full speed.

Hi there, my first computer was a C64G and I have a lot of fond memories playing games on it (and a program or two, mostly graphics and music).

Not an essential thing, anyway .......

I downloaded this SID player

https://csdb.dk/release/?id=103781

Am i missing something ?

The song never ends

There's a way to make detect the song length to this player ?

Or this feature is totally missing ? (which seems strange to me)

Very common for SID's to loop. Many Amiga MOD's do the same.

The concept of song length doesn't necessarily exist with SIDs. As Hewitson writes, they often loop so the length is in effect infinite..

No, i'm not convinced

Indeed look at this search

https://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Special:HVSC

If you choose a SID and select the MP3 recording you will get the song length

So, a way to determine the song length for a SID must exist IMHO

A SID is just some code that produces sound. It's like asking what the length of a program or game is in seconds. There are many ways to define where the end is. In case of MP3 recordings they obviously cannot be infinite, so you need to locate some meaningful place to cut it, e.g. where it loops (if it doesn't stop producing sound at some point).
Some/most SIDs are created in sequencers like MODs so it is easy to programmatically determine the length before a loop (actually most SIDs use some kind of sequencer but most early musicians designed their own to their specific needs), but in theory you could make a SID that runs infinitely without looping by using procedural generation. I don't know if any such C64 SIDs exist as it does require some CPU power to make something meaningful in real time, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

In the HVSC collection i found a file which contain the song lengths for each SID

If such kind of file exist it means that a way to determine the length of the SID is possible

At least the person who created the file knows it

This is probably the time where are all individuell SID tracks fade out the playback. I also think there is no real song length in SIDs.
