Question CAPS TOSEC v0.06 vs. v0.05

I have a problem with CAPS dats v0.06 (actually all of us)

New version (v0.06) is not useful with WinUAE. Because when the emulator asked second, third, etc. disk image, you must extract it from archive. However, every disk image has own archive (single file) in v0.05 and than before, I mean it was easy.

Here it is the my solutions (if you approve):

a)
For example,
Batman - The Movie (1989)(Ocean Software)(Disk 1 of 2)[0006].zip
included -> Batman - The Movie (1989)(Ocean Software)(Disk 1 of 2)[0006].ipf

Batman - The Movie (1989)(Ocean Software)(Disk 2 of 2)[0006].zip
included -> Batman - The Movie (1989)(Ocean Software)(Disk 2 of 2)[0006].ipf

Batman - The Movie (1989)(Ocean Software)(Scans)[0006].zip
included -> Box.info, Box_back.jpg, Box_front.jpg, ... etc.

b)
Or, CAPS dats can be two kinds.
First for disk images (this is the same of the old versions),
And second for all the rest (box, disk and manual scans etc.)

For example,
Commodore Amiga - CAPS Disks (TOSEC-v0.XX)
Commodore Amiga - CAPS Scans (TOSEC-v0.XX) or something like that.

What can you say?

I hope, you could understand what I want to say.

Err... we don't have anything to do with the TOSEC dat...

But the distributed releases do have all files in one ZIP... So perhaps that is why they have done it that way too...

For our IPF releases, this is all disks for that version of that game.
For our Scan releases, this is all scans for that version of that game.

We don't have any current plans to change this for our distribution, but obviously the TOSEC guys can do their dat however they like... Perhaps you should ask them, though I guess they did it that way so it was easier for them to generate it(?).

Duke's reply for that topic (from TOSEC board)

Well, I want to have all files specific for a game in a single zip, because this is the way the CAPS team releases them. The format was changed from 0.05 to 0.06 because lots of people complained that the dat does not include the scans etc.

I don't think its a great issue to extract the disks and put them into the winuae fiolder.. they dont take very much space. I mean, TOSEC is not meant for playing, it's for preserving and archiving
Nevermind, I give up.

Not true. There is ugly workaround:

"<path>\LotusIII.zip\LotusIII_Disk2.ipf"
selects second disk.

or

"<path>\LotusIII.zip\#2" selects second supported image.

WinUAE's GUI will support files inside archives someday..
