Cheers guys! Yep, those connectors aren't the best behaved when they're not nice and level, so the feet keep it at the right height for the A500. The A1000 of course is higher up, so things get a little tricky there. I've drawn up a simple slot extender that Acill is going to prototype. That should let it sit on the desk on an A1000 without dangling precariously in the air, so that might be an option in the future.

@Legionary
You mean a prototype of the Z-500 or Acill's case? The board looks like this:

@McTrinsic
Yeah, it's hard to know really. Working through the problem with E-Penguin, I think we determined the most likely cause is an issue with address line A19. Where that issue is however is hard to determine remotely - the Z-500 was 100% tested and worked before I sent it, and I'm sure Matze's board was also tested and 100% worked before he shipped it. That leaves the following possibilities that I can think of:

- Damage in transit on either board (cracked solder joint or connector?)
- A problem with one or other of the edge connectors involved in the setup (there's a total of 4 pairs of edge connectors in that setup, 3 of which are in series between the CPU and graphics board, so quite a lot of scope for that sort of issue)
- A spontaneous failure of a part elsewhere on any of the 5 boards involved (A500, Z-500, ACA500+, graphics board or ACA1221)
- A short somewhere due to debris or similar

@E-Penguin
If you have a multimeter handy it should be easy enough to at least check for shorts and integrity on the address lines, which might help you narrow down the root of the problem.

I did some poking about with the multimeter, but couldn't figure out which pins were the A19 line. I've sent the graphics card back to Matze to check, if he finds nothing wrong then it must be elsewhere in the setup, which is odd.

You had my ACA500+ working with Zorro2 memory boards on this adaptor, so that should prove the chain between that and the GBAPII++. Which leaves either the ACA1221 or the graphics card as the possible culprit.

Sorry if I am complicating things. But for my Phoenixboard some cards work really well. Such as a VarIO. With the GBA++ on the expansion port, however, the card showed even more ghosting-liked artifacts than what you have here.
For the Phoenix this largely credited to signal quality but of course may also be due to other issues. Such as a missing buster with three devices on the Zorro-chain.

At 800x600 8bit or less there's no ghosting and the image is crystal clear. Over that it needs to access the upper memory chip, and ghosting starts.

Just to follow up ; it was indeed a problem with a memory chip, and not the adaptor. Matze fixed it straight away, all good stuff.

If anyone is interested in further details...

Are you still taking expressions of interest? This looks rather marvellous and I can see use-cases for my A500 and A1500.
