Question Horizontal shoot 'em-up

I remember a horizontal scrolling shoot' em-up which has an astronaut or spaceship flying in front of a devastated city.
Once you have made it to the far right of a level, you must fight an enemy boss and then you have to make your way back to the beginning (far left) of that level.
The game is produced in 1991/1992 and was reviewed by most international Amiga magazines.
Does anyone know what game I am looking for?

Forgotten Worlds? It was a bit earlier than 1991/92, though.

Unhappy Nope

Nope, it is not Forgotten Worlds.
I am trying to remember who published the game I am looking for. I think it was UBI Soft, but I am not sure.

That's Starush
I finished it once, but it is very hard !
But good thing is that once you have completed one planet then it will stay finished even after game over. So you can try finishing each planet seperately as long as you don't turn off the Amiga

@Djay,
It isn't Side_Arms. That game is was published by Go!

@Overdoc,
Can you post some ingame-pictures of Starush? This could be the game I have been looking for.

For WinFellow, the [b] is even correct.
WinFellow (latest snapshot Nov 2001) does load the game but you cannot play. After the intro stuff has come to an end, the game won't get to the screen with the hand and the two buttons. You get a message "please insert Disk 1" even though it IS inserted. Problems with the disk loader, with high probability.
WinUAE 0.8.14 and 0.8.21 both work fine with the game

@Burseg,
Thanks for putting Starrush in The Zone. It looks a fine shooter to me.

Arrow

The game's name is STARUSH!
(one 'R')
TOSEC don't spell it correctly, either.

Question Two questions..

I have tried out Starush in WinUAE and it works fine… almost.
When I start the game and play through several levels, I finally encounter a giant fish at the end of level 3. Once it is defeated the game displays a Game Over-screen and returns to the main menu. Is this supposed to happen?
Furthermore, when I enter from the main menu the options-screen, I can choose to play in four different levels e.g. ‘water’ and ‘fire’. When loading these levels the game requests Disc 01 while the disc already is in the drive. Is this error caused by the game itself or is it an emulator problem?

@Andreas,
You are right about the game’s title. The funny thing is gamesmagazines like CU Amiga and Amiga Joker also called the game Starrush in their reviews. It is just a silly title.

As far as I can remember you have to play all 4 regions seperately, and each of them has 3 levels, which you have to play to the end and then back to the beginning. After these 3 levels there always is a endboss.
But you only have to play one region in one go ! (e.g. water, fire,... ) If you die and it's game over after e.g. you have finished the endboss of the water level, then this level will stay finished even after game over. ( there will be some symbol next to this region in the main map and I think you cannot select it again )
After you have finished all 4 regions then I remember there was one screen with planets and starts, and some text. Nothing special, if my memory tells me right....

Smile Thanks for the info

Ah, that explains. In this case Starush has to be the only Amiga shmup that lets you start in any level. It certainly adds to the game’s long-lasting value.
I really begin to like this game - it is so weird.

This is one of the games where I thaught having an Action Replay would be very useful !
Sadly my MK I didn't work with this game, and so I had to play one whole afternoon until I made it thru all 4 levels...
But it's a cool game ! And grafix are nice, too !
Very underrated in my opinion.
