Cool World's best Amiga retro shooter is now on Android !!

Hi everybody

After a lot of sweating the Android version of the famed amiga shooter is ready.

GOOGLE PLAY: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....copecom.bsone

YOUTUBE: [ Show youtube player ]

PRESS: http://cope-com.com/2012/04/09/world...w-for-android/

Cope-Com is proud to announce that our world renowned shooter of the Amiga era, Battle Squadron, receiving an amazing 109% rating, is now available for Android - on Google Play

After releasing the iOS version to retro fans all over the world (92%, including new players, rated it 5 stars !!) we now have the Android version ready. We have conserved the highly praised gameplay exactly like on the Amiga, while at the same time adapting it to surperb play on mobile devices. New online enhancements include online Leaderboards and Achievements.

What the press said about the iOS version:
4.5/5 @ www.toucharcade.com - "Battle Squadron ONE is excellent gaming, folks. Do not miss it"
5/5 @ www.iphonefreak.com - "A fantastic shooter which beats the vast majority of its modern day equivalents hands down!"
5/5 @ www.iphonegameruk.co.uk - "Those that love retro shooters will also enjoy this game incredibly"

And the original Amiga version:
109% @ Amiga Computing (2:10) - "Now Battle Squadron is the best"
90% @ Info (31) - "It's expert execution and addictive playability"
90% @ The One Amiga (56) - "Battle Squadron is so addictive that you just can't stop playing"

Battle Squadron ONE plays on Android 2.2 and above and includes:
- 2-player split-screen on tablets (world's first !!)
- 4 fantastically detailed levels to fight your way through
- 4 highly diverse "bosses" to defeat... and scores of different enemies
- 24 different weapons (4 types of 6 grades each) + Nova Missile
- Several control options, including "2x direct touch"
- 4 difficulties ("Squadron Leader" is exactly like on Amiga)
- Über-difficulty mode: "Air Commodore"... with surprise ending

So engage and destroy... and to those of you who remember: "Welcome to Battle Squadron !!"

not really my cup of tea I prefer the original Amiga experience.

Good luck with it though.

I would happily donate to someone like Galahad or Stingray for work on Battle Squadron 2

TorbenLarsen I think you need to target a younger audience with this game, we are all stuck in the 80's and 90's

Interesting idea, but how would it work in reality?

This was more a joke. You wouldn't get enough money to work on it properly. Battle Squadron isn't Monkey Island, Wasteland or Shadowrun.

Great that this has come to Android. Awesome on IOS and I assume it'll be the same.

As a "retrogamer" this does interest me

Thanks Christian, that's great to hear and indeed it is just as good an Android conversion as it is on iOS from the original Amiga version. Including a whole new uniquely 2 player split-screen feature to double the shooting fun

Good job he put "best Amiga retro shooter" in the title then

Although why he has never opted for the crashingly obvious tactic of actually putting the game's name in the thread title I'll never know... particularly as my first thought was "Oh look, Banshee is available on Android"

Hi Graham

It is a bold Amiga title, but lets get down to some unforseen technical facts of the game and why it recieved a 109% in rating and why this is technically one of the brightest Amiga stars of the era.

1. More than 100 colors on screen during play (almost twice the amount of halfbrite and Amiga games had at that time max. 32 colors)
2. 2 player feature (One of the only Amiga games that had a 2 player feature)
3. Cool special FX.
4. Main objects running 60fps.

It was almost like way ahead of it's time... and the Amiga made it possible

Would it be possible to get you and fryguy on our ICS 4.x testing team. We will supply you with a game file and thus testing OS4.x for us?

If interested then contact me on tl@cope-com.com

Thanx
