Castle Blackstar.. The first adventure game I ever played on the first 'computer' I ever had - An Amstrad PCW8256
Its a text adventure I bought around 1985 and I never completed it.. Ive been playing again recently via Amstrad CPC emulator and Im still stuck on it On the Amiga.... Hmm hard one this... I wasnt really into adventure games on the Amiga.. (Too busy playing Turrican) but completed Another World and Flashback.. For the purists among you I would have to say Monkey Island series was the best though. On the PC.... Sam and Max hit the Road. absolute classic and Ive still got it On the Gameboy Legend of zelda - bought it for my girlfriend for xmas then promptly stole it to play on the train to work. Took me 4 months to complete. |

I don't believe it! I wrote a long explanation about the Adventure games I loved most. And I mean LONG. Then I accidentally pressed the "esc" key, and all was gone. Dammit!
So here they are, in a simplified way (I don't have patience anymore) ZX81: Black Crystal; Shark MSX: The Hobbit PC: Monkey Island series Dammit again! |

PC : Grim Fandango
Amiga : Day of the Tentacle Well, it´s PC, but since I use the SCUMMVM engine, I claim this to be an Amiga game too |

It just has to be the Monkey Island series. Great music, characters, humour, puzzles, locations, baddies, stories, I could go on and on listing their good points.
I recently played 'Escape from Monkey Island' on PS2 and was glad to see all the things that make those games great has been retained. Superb |

Sam and Max - great humour and mini-games, probably my favourite just behind Day of the Tentacle (I haven't played it in a hile - am I right that it had Maniac Mansion inside a games console somewhere? 2 adventure games for the price of one!)
Beneath a steel sky was also (graphically) very good, got a bit boring after a while though. |

Monkey Island 1 - 2 : Extremely funny and cool games .. Lure of The Temptress: Another classic, very nice atmosphere .. Simon The Sorcerer: Great gfx, lots of funny talking and a really cool story! Other adventure games: Loom, Curse Of Enchantia, Willy Beamish, The Larry series and ofcourse Space Quest .. |

Id say Tomb Raider is both action and adventure.
IMO though its not original, its just an extremely well done 3D Prince of Persia. nothing wrong with that though eh |

Im not sure if Superwonderboy in Monsterland is an adventure game. If it is then that game is my favorite adventure game.

indeed, or platform, and tomb raider could be described as an action adventure to some degree..but never as an adventure!
seems this board is full of young pups who dont even know what an adventure game is! |

would you say that all adventures are 2d, if they contain 3d then they are action games?

an adventure can be 2d or 3d, if a game contains action then its an action game |

Hmm I missed the "all platforms" part. I know the Longest Journey, actually I played the demo and waited for a year for the english version to be released and got it as well. Unfortunately I didn't have time to complete it, but I still keep my savegame near the beginning of the game and would like to play later. As far as I remember, the voice actress of the protagonist was better in the demo than the retail version.
Another good adventure game is Sanitarium. It offers a little bit sick but distinctive experience. |

First graphics adventure I ever saw was Leisure suit larry 1. Which is also the reason I went out and bought the collection first time I saw any larry game. Didn't enjoy it too much though.
