Premiere CD32 with audio tracks (WinUAE only)

After a month hard work & help from Toni on CD32Load & a lot of bugfixing in the CD audio / CD data routine I'm proud to present

Premiere CD32 with original audio tracks & sfx at the same time

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2nmdhj4wtt..._CD32.zip?dl=0

Bonus:

- yellow + fwd: level skip
- reverse + fwd : quit current level
- blue button: jump (console-like controls)
- play: pause

Press blue button during boot until "8th day" screen appears for trainer.

So definitely better than the original CD32 version which is the ECS version on a CD.

Update: Tested on real hardware and works.

- On the real machine, sometimes loading seems to take forever/stop/etc but it eventually works. It's the best I could do ATM after a hellish week of trying to figure out how to make CD audio & data loading work together & harassing Toni with questions. All 6 levels were tested (using level skipper of course...).

I've improved the error handling/delay already, I think that's good enough for now

Enjoy

Careful: It (again) doesn't work with real hardware. I may have changed some stuff in the CD loading routine that the real hardware doesn't like. More in a few days

In the meanwhile, you can enjoy it on an emulator

It crashed under winuae with a 030+fast mem CD32 setup, displayed a red screen.

Nice work.

Out of curiosity where did the CDDA come from?

If the CD32 version was the ECS disk version converted to run from CD presumably it had no CDDA?

Sampled from an Amiga playing the original in-game chip tracker files?

I can imagine a technique like this would be very cool for Turrican(2) where there are full studio remixes by the original composer available (if you own the CD).

The CDDAs come from the original music modules converted to mp3 using Delitracker on Windows.

For Turrican yes, it would be cool, but I don't have the CD and I cannot just distribute the image without tracks saying "just name the tracks as x or y and respect the order, and use 2-channel mp3s...". Most people won't be able to manage.

What I could do would be to create the CD with original music (no real interest) then users can change it, respecting the placeholders & the names. But remember that doing this kind of conversion is a lot of work.

I think the majority of CD32 users would really want Turrican(2) more than any other title?

If you wanted to do something different perhaps some of the "placeholder" CDDA music could be from another format (SNES / Megadrive?)

I explained it earlier in this thread. I've found one reason, now it blocks after CD play stops; More work to do on that.

nice cd BTW. Next one won't go to the trash. Sorry about that.

BTW: enabling trainer: press "blue" button when game boots. This should enable CUSTOM1=1 and thus trainer. Levels can be skipped with FWD+Yellow.

That is exactly the way I would like it to be done.
