PAK68 Accelerator Schematics for all! :)

Hey everyone - i thought as a first post - what better way to introduce myself, than to post up the full article on the original PAK-68 accelerator from C't Magazine (August 1987). I managed to contact the editor of Heise Online, and he mailed me out a mint condition back copy for free!

So, i scanned it in as hi-res, and voila - here you are!

There are no GAL/PAL's involved, just 74LS Glue Logic, and discrete components. This would also work with an SMT 68EC020 as well, i reckon.

Yes, it's in german - but all we need, are the schematics

Thanks people

I have the articles for the PAK68/2 and the PAK68/3 as well, with the schematics and PAL/GAL equations too, if you want me to put those up later?

Sure thing
I've made a PDF of the article and uploaded it to the EAB file server in the folder 'Doc/App_Hardware'. Hope that's okay for you?

Here you go chaps - feast your eyes on this

Articles
Pak68/2, Part 1: http://kai.robinson.free.fr/dropbox/.../Part1/art.htm

Pak68/2, Part 2: http://kai.robinson.free.fr/dropbox/.../Part2/art.htm

Pak68/3: http://kai.robinson.free.fr/dropbox/...AK68-3/art.htm

Zipped Articles

Pak68/2, Part 1: http://kai.robinson.free.fr/dropbox/...10.178-185.zip

Pak68/2, Part 2: http://kai.robinson.free.fr/dropbox/...11.314-326.zip

Pak68/3: http://kai.robinson.free.fr/dropbox/...11.222-231.zip

The schematics in that Pak68/3 are awful, unfortunately, if anyone has any better quality ones, they would be appreciated.

C't still sell the back issues - although i got the August '87 copy free of charge - literally, i asked if they had one, and two days later, a very efficient german man had sent me a mint condition copy!

Dates for the publishing of all the known PAK68 articles are:

Pak68 (original): August 1987
Pak68 (FastPAK): January 1990
Pak68 Kickstart Patch: April 1990
Pak68 Amiga @ 14Mhz: September 1990

Pak68/2 Part 1: October 1991
Pak68/2 Part 2: November 1991

Pak68/3: November 1993

Hmm...tried to look in 'The Zone!' and turns out i don't have access...are there minimum requirements, or does my account need to be poked at by an admin?

Just got an email from Thomas Hoffmann @ Heise Publishing, regardling all the PAK related articles. I gave him the dates for the articles, and he's going to scan and PDF them in personally - so we may end up with better schematics after all!

@Kai

alas I have not had the time, with bout a billion project blasting off the walls alas I had to let the PAK68/3 go to a friend whom could best use it in their Atari ST....

However, the sources are a great read and will provide a great basis to build a similar adapter for an A500/CDTV in the future.

I cannot thank you enough for sharing them

now.... have you told TCD the best bit yet?..... y'know... the fact he has to translate all the PDF's to English =D

Might be easier to build the LUCAS to start with instead of a PAK/3 - fewer PAL/GAL's and the PCB masks are already in the PDF file i uploaded

Would be nice to have that converted into a gerber file, too!

Now all i need, is an A500+ so i can have a go at making it myself
