[obsolete] EoB 1 AGA Project

Hi

DLSILVER is pushing me to translate EOB1 un French/Italian and polish.

This work is started (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ht=translation)

But he push me to done an AGA version of the game...

This first test are started:

1) EOB & EOB1 files are already successfully ressourced (again some problem with EOB2)
2) all VGA datas can be extracted from PC version using WestPack2
3) a unpacker/packer are already ripped and works with amiga CPS,INF files and CMP/CPS/INF PC file
4) I am working on a routine to use directly PC pictures screen & palettes on amiga and displayed it in AGA (beta released soon)

If i can finished current work, i will try first to update EOB1 file to display directly PC VGA graphics files

but i have a little problem, PC version seems don't contain OUTRO animation in the COUNCIL

Is it normal?

If many guys are interested I am agree to finish it,

so thank you to leave a little word on this thread to encourage me to continue this work

i personaly think that the palettes used for the pc verson are ugly, while the 16 colours of the amiga forced the designer to smart drawing. i salute the effort tough. it would be great to be able to hack it all the way, total convert it next

Bertrand as i told you on the phone, the eob version on amiga had an animated outro because Pc players have complained about static images in their version.

hence the programmers change it and put an animated sequence ^^ hehehe ^^

Thanks Denis

And NOW!!!! my promised beta viewer:

UnCSP-ViewerAGA (a simple name isn't it?)

Features: (Already done)
--------
WARNING!!!!! With 0.2 Beta version following files from EOB AMIGA/PC are loaded:
- KING32.CPS (orignal name 'KING.CPS' on amiga)
- KING256.CMP (original name 'KING.CMP' on PC)
- KING256.COL (original name 'WTR2D2.COL' on PC)

It's 3 files not modified!!!!!
(PC files was been just extracted with wonferfull WESTPAK2 Tool)

* First Amiga file is loaded, decrunched and displayed (32 colors KING picture)
* Press Left Mouse button to continue (Bleu screen)
* 2 seconds of delay
* both PC files are loaded and decrunched
* VGA screen are converted in AMIGA bitmaps screen 256 colors
( Chunky2Planar routine need 68020 or better)
* now you can compare AMIGA/PC screen

Of course you can try to extract anothers PC EOB/EOB2 CMP,CPS or VCN files (warning you must found good .Col file for 256 colors palette)

and rename it as:
King256.CMP & King256.col
to see another vga picture

in short futur arguments will be implemented
Attached Files
File Type: lha UnCPS-ViewerAGA-Beta.lha (34.4 KB, 433 views)

What about porting EOB III from PC to Amiga. Main engine looks similar ta previous edition (i mean EOB I/II). Maybe it will enoug ONLY to convert data files and use the angine from EOB II.

i think to try to do it...

If eob1& eob2 can be convert in aga, why not, but it's seems eob3 motor was rewritten by others team... (datas are to extract from one gig file of the game and westpak2 can hellp us.

i've tryed to look for info on the format used by Eob3 with no luck, but it's not my field anyway. i'll start the translation tomorrow, and after that i would like to plan a total conversion: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=254898
