Well, I don't know... <---- Very sceptic

Depends on what computer you have, but Win2k is by far the best windows I've had. And if you really want a Win98 OS then you can use VirtualPC to easily emulate it from within your main OS.

Concerning Monkey Island... anyone feel like sharing their MI1 CD version? I sort of have it, but without any real working sound or soundeffects. Seems like you really need to have the CD to get it (or a hacked version, maybe?).

I have MI1 PC at home, cracked, with sound working through the soundblaster.

I don´t know if RCK would be happy if I uploaded it to the zone , though.

Now if my memory serves me right, you have to execute the monkey.exe file with /s option, to have sound. Go to a DOS box, and type

Monkey /s

If I used VDMSound (along with it's "dosdrv" command from within DOS) I could execute Monkey Island with proper sound effects by typing "monkey v s" ("v" for VGA graphics, "s" for Soundblaster card). But the main problem is still that there's no music, which has to do with the absence of it's CD. I can't imagine Lucasarts leaving out the great music.

If you use NT/2k/XP you can always use my VdmSound/ScummVm frontend LEC Quick And Easy

Yeah MI1 256 colour version has audio as cd tracks, if you use scummvm you can use mp3 files as the cd audio though.

Yeah its had a revamp and some of the lesser downloads still dont work.
If you're visiting the scumm bar you should also visit Mixnmojo the main focus of the Lucasarts fans community.

Hey! Thanks! Now maybe I should have tried it on MI first, but I ended up using it with Day of the Tentacle first, and it solved all problems with running it under Windows! So I'm happy now

Will try it with MI soon aswell.

On PC MI1 was released both as EGA 16 colour AND VGA 256 colour versions!

I'd forgotten about this thread. Thanks to that site that Dizzy listed,I could see the differences & see the CD compilation of Monkey Island 1 & 2, did have the 256 colour version of MI 1.
To be honest its quite hard to tell,I was shocked to see the Amiga had 32 colours,it looked like a PC EGA port, until you looked at them side by side.
It was far more obvious in Monkey Island 2 of the use of extra colours in both versions.

on alt.binaries.old.games.repost,
have Monkey Island madness, wich is a cd-image containing Monkey Island 1 + 2 and a demo of Monkey Island 3.
Monkey Island 2 is with Cd-music.
And it play well in Windows 95, might be a little speedy (but it's fully playable in windows). It's big around 550 MB
