Quitkey setup for dummies?

Hi all

Getting tired of searching Google on how to set the quit key..

I keep reading "just add it to the slave" etc.

HOW do I add it to the slave? Using Edit:Text? Edit:Hex? Other?

If I want the Quitkey to be F10 I understand I need to use the "Rawcode $59"

PLEASE help me with a step by step guide on how to add it

Also maybe a guide on how to make a WHDLoad.prefs in S-directory...

Thanks

Right click on the icon, add the tooltype QUITKEY=$59 and save the icon. Done.

Or globally edit your s:WHDLoad.prefs with any text editor to set the key.

Click on the icon for the WHDLoad install, hold down right mouse button, select 'Icons -> Information...' from the menu at the top, Click on 'New' in the window that opened and enter:
Code:
QuitKey=$59
Press return and click on 'Save'.

You should already have a 'WHDLoad.prefs' in the WHDLoad archive. Just copy it to 'S'. Remove the ';' in front of a line to activate it (; = comment).

No an exact step-by-step, but I got it

Step-by-step would be (adding it to future noobs like me)

1. Right click on "x.slave" icon.
2. Select INFO
3. Go to TOOL TYPES
4. Click NEW
5. Name it QUITKEY=$59 (for F10) [Make $ sign using Shift+Alt+4]
6. Save
7. "x.slave has no icon yet. Should I create one?" - YES

Done

For future reference, that would how to do it for Scalos and DK keymap.

I'd also suggest to just add the line to whdload.prefs instead as then it would be working for all slaves. Any tooltypes in the slave will override the setting in whdload.prefs.
