TBH : The very roots of the project were on A1K.org, but Retrobri(gh)t(e) itself was developed here *is also proud of EAB*

But with your mum doesn't count...

(back on topic, I had a great result with a C128. That's with retrobrite, not dating)

Stick to using it on your underpants if you like the results.

UV light damages organic materials like rubber and plastic making them brittle. Eventually, it could even damage your underpants.

I am proud to say that the members of this site, along with Vintage Computer Forums, did the majority of the work in developing and testing Retr0bright.

That's as may be, but I shan't be using it for the reason given above.

Hmmm... I thought we had done this to death.

UV can degrade the polymer and that is unavoidable, however, we are using low strength peroxide with a catalyst and Uv to target the oxygens attached to the brominated flame retardant in the plastic whilst leaving the polymer unaffected. If you do it right, that's exactly what you get from the process. We are talking about an effect that is only a couple of microns thick, therefore you should see little effect on the structural strength of the plastic.

If you don't want to do it, that's your call......

A simple soak of the plastics overnight in hot water (which obviously turns cold) and some washing up liquid then a good firm wipe with a cloth worked wonders for my A500. It looks like brand new.

And my SNES.

The old simple methods are the best!

Is there Retr0bright for the Lazy Bugger anywhere?

i.e. Can we buy ready made or will someone make it for us? Just add the oxidizer and go? Not sure the other half would like me mixing chemicals in the kitchen sink
