Yes, true, and I am clear on how the ruling will end up being on some of the points in dispute.

In the end, it seems to me both parties will certainly loose something. What that would imply in real life to each, remains to be seen.

They should have come to a more amicable agreement for the benefit of both.

The 'curse of mismanagement of Commodore' that brought us an amazing computing platform which by rights should never have seen the light of day. Yes, it truly is 'unbelievable' that it still has enough commercial worth to fight over and still arouses the same passions it did 30 years. Only Amiga makes it possible!

the Amiga world is quite a sh!t show...
Yes it is, and so much more exciting than all those other dead home computer platforms.

Who will win the battle to become the Amiga's next 'gatekeeper', and who will go bankrupt trying? Will the latest vaporware manage to become a reality before the developers get hounded to death and lawyers make it it impossible to market? Will users finally begin to appreciate what they got, or will they continue to bicker and moan and shoot each other in the foot? Ah, the memories - It's like being back in 1994!

Looks like the 3.1.4 stuff that I've _already_ purchased and paid for is still available for download from Hyperion, for what it's worth.

Out of curiosity, with all these interlocking licenses, will this have any impact on A-eon products like Enhancer? Isn't that based on a license from Hyperion? If Hyperion's licences get revoked or modified does A-eon's licenses get clobbered too?

It's a shame we can't treat all Amiga related lawyers like the Marketing Department of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation

after all of this crap, i think crowdfunding is the only way to go.

it's hard to care who owns what, or who has whatever legal whatever-the-crap...

it really sucks for the devs and end users

community, enthusiasm, and ideas are what keep our machines alive.

i'll happily donate some money to projects that are useful to me, or useful to the community.

crowdfunding dammit.

... or some anonymous dark web bitcoin sort of thing

Can't we just have a kickstarter and buy them all out? They must be worth pennies these days. Buy them out and open source the lot.

Yes, great letter by ThoR and Olsen, and exactly how I am feeling right now..

We should drive these leeches who do nothing but kill whatever little development there is on A-OS away.

Really, fuck them.
Don't buy anything from these frauds.

The Enhancer Software OS3 and OS4 versions are completely developed from the ground up by the team at Amiga Developer Network. The team members who wrote each component have been paid in full for their work and have written "clean" source code that does not rely on other entities for licencing. Enhancer Software is an independent project and since it's inception has aimed to remove the legal obstacles that have prevented our platform moving forward in software development.

It will continue to grow.

no doubt, third party software (development) is not directly endangered by litigations around the amiga ip, including the current one. however, as you dont own the most important parts of the system, your contributions may or may not be considered essential.

generally if we all stick to the api provided by commodore in the nineties we are on the safe ground. but dont fool ourselves, that the current, especially legal, situation is stable, alas.

Jay and the team brought us the amazing computing platform, CBM just bought it to spite Jack. I'd say it's rather remarkable that it survived this long, thanks to many enthusiasts both inside and outside of Commodore...

It is a bit sad how dead Atari ST really is, but not really unexpected.

I would guess, this is due to the huge demand. If you take into account that this Alina Webshop is the only trader that dares to sell this operating system, i wouldn't be suprised if their stock is already empty.

I ordered my copy on Tuesday and received an e-mail shortly after that that they will probably not be able to send it until November 5th because they still have to produce it.

Seriously, don't bring MAGA anything into this forum.
The very abbreviation, meant as a joke or otherwise, is divisive. I won't abide facism in any form anywhere, and I certainly won't abide having to read or think about it in a place like EAB.

Congratulations, you were just added to my ignore list. A first on this forum.
