Films that should be games and what would they feature?
I just watched Where Eagles Dare a WW2 thriller, and it struck me that it would make a great game!
Stealth - Sneaking into the castle. Shoot em up - Shooting loadsa baddies. Beat em up - Fighting on top of a cable car. Strategy - Planting explosives while escaping the castle. Racing - Being chased in an armoured bus by more baddies. Flight sim - Escaping in a plane. What films do you think woulda made good games? |

I think the movie Street Fighter would do a great beat'em up game, with all those characters, cool fighting moves and all, even athoulgh it's a crap movie.
Oohh, they already made it... Any movie today could be ported to a game, all they need is to use a generic 3D engine and make a Tomb Raider alike game. At least that's what they have been doing lately, it seems like every movie is getting a (crap) game license. Hmm.. it doesn't seem to much different from the old days, when every movie license would use a generic platform engine and be a crap Mario Bros clone or something like that. It seems like times doesn't change that much |

In all seriousness, I was watching my perennial New Year's screening of "The Poseidon Adventure" Tuesday night and I couldn't help but think what a perfect game license it would have been (if video games were popular when it was released, which they weren't). Think of the film and how the characters had to manipulate their way through the upside-down ship to get to the hull. Obstacles, underwater sequences, fires, explosions, etc. This would just be a fantastic game, even if you didn't like the movie!

Coolish! Have you played this game? Is it Poseidon-ish? Was it well executed? I must check this one out soon.

I have and it was a bit tricky to get working, but the latest Snes9x handles it great. I piddled around with it for testing purpouses, and it was pretty nifty. The atmosphere is palpable. The upside-downess is a pretty cool thing.
