Considering the fact there are thousands more, why don't you write it to use the virus library rather than writing the routines yourself?

"thousands" is a little exaggerated.
I concentrate on viruses which are widely spread. I don't use the virus library because I don't want to rely on other peoples work. |

I wonder if all Amiga Viruses were written by Atari ST users?

After a long time, I finally found out why the deep scan stuff did not work with Windows XP. Now that all serious bugs are fixed, I can start working on the final 1.9 release (which will be the last version). Bug reports are still accepted, but don't wait too long.

I need some beta testers for the new version.
Requirements: * You must have Windows XP installed * You must have infected disks, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense... * You should have more than 32.000 ADFs, at least one beta tester must in order to test some of the new code Send a PM if you want to became a beta tester. I'm also thinking about releasing the source code, but I haven't decided yet. I guess it would be a nice Christmas present. |

I'll beta it.. I have far, far, far more than 32.000 disks (I might have more than 250,000). I have XP and I am sure I have some infected disks!
Hmmm.. PM sent |

Don't be afraid, it will still work on older OS'es as well. Having WinXP is only a requirement when testing beta 1 (there will be a second beta before the final release).

If I cannot help you test the release, I can at least help you create a new virus
On an utility disk [->zone], I found a very NASTY tool, Boot Block Massacre ('B3') to create a virus "for loosers" ... this also includes the DASA virus, which is very rare and if you install one poor victim disk with this virus, it might be included in next ADFScan Sorry to not have come up with this earlier Quote:

Thanks, I'll check this tool out. The DASA virus is already recognized, at least if we are talking about the ByteWarrior virus. But I'll try to add all other viruses that this tool can create.

So ...
nice findings from me, WindowsKiller! 5 disks with only 1 of them recognized...HOWEVER...this Metal Masters version has TWO virii on it! (Butonic AND Lamer) ADFScan "only" recognizes one of them at the moment. They are in the zone...and password protected!! ( => pm) I really have no will to spread this stuff further than to you! |

PM arrived, thanks. By the way, I've skipped the beta 2 phase, as there aren't any more bugs. I'll check those 5 disks and if everything goes well, the new version will be available on Sunday.

I've just checked all 5 disks, and all viruses are already recognized by ADFScan. Seems like the DeepScan stuff wasn't working on Windows 2000 as well...
However, what virus should be on "Medieval Warriors" ? ADFScan reports Saddam 1 (false alert, as the file is already deleted), but VirusExecutor doesn't find any virus at all. |
