New Old Game Released: PuzCat
Before Mr Beanbag there was PuzCat. This is the last game i made in AMOS, that i really only made as a kind of exercise and never thought to release before. But now i realised it, i thought why not. It is deliberately made in the style of an 8-bit game, for some imaginary 8-bit machine. Except the music, which was a placeholder for some suitably bleepy chip tune. It is as finished as it will ever get now but has several playable levels. The aim is to collect all the mice in a level and then get to the exit. Avoid dogs. You can also push blocks around. You can kill the dogs by squashing them with a block or if you bounce high enough on a spring you can land on them (i think you have to hold "down" for this to work, i don't remember). Full AMOS source is included in the zip file so if someone wants to modify it or make their own levels or update the graphics - knock yourself out. Not literally, of course, just a figure of speech. http://www.glastonbridge.co.uk/mrbea...ads/PuzCat.zip |

Nice picture of your screenshot.
I run your source code of the game but it say Extension not loaded... How can I load the Extension to stop cause of the errors? I have look the source code and I have notice you used peek and poke and also used quite lots of data statement. It is good learn from |

oh! i have some of my own extensions that i made that might be needed... hmm... i will look into it, i forgot about that
edit: then again it could be MusiCraft extension, because i remember AMOSPro's built-in support for ProTracker modules was very buggy. edit2: No i just checked and it is in fact my own ProTracker music extention that i made from the playroutine sources that came with PT4Beta2 you can safely remove those lines i guess and run the game without music I hope the compiled executable runs fine though? AMOSPro 2.0 should be fine, i haven't changed the uploaded Zip, source code is for your edification only, if it doesn't run in AMOS it's your problem even if it's my fault! Sorry!

Nice game. Technically well done.
I even found a bonus room, when you leave the title screen to the right, by jumping over the letters. |

thanks phx, there are a few bonus rooms, impressed someone found that one so quickly though!
btw i'm contemplating giving away my AMOS Protracker extension as well, so that it will run with music in AMOS. Also because i probably should have made it available ages ago to be honest. |

Thanks for the game
I think i found a bug. After level 4 it put me back to the title screen. Using the passwords (got them from the source) to level 5 or later levels does not work either |

I don't have tested music stuff in AMOS PRO yet. Your extension will be nice.. maybe I'll ask you for it. |

AMOS is far more capable than it's usually given credit. The problem was it was aimed at beginners so that's what it got. It's not the tool's fault that people typically used it badly!
But "nice" is not a word i would use. Despite my defence of it above, it really is a terrible language. Its main advantage is that it's easy to get started. I have found the extension source code and an AmigaGuide manual i made for it. Although i just discovered the instructions name-clash with the AMCAF music extension which will cause problems for anyone who has that installed. |

Quote:
they are all my own extensions. MachMaths is just a few simple functions like logical shifts and sign extends. MaxMap is essentially the scrolling and bob routines for Mr Beanbag. i have gone through the entire program and the only instructions from any of these extensions i can find are for Protracker playback. But, if it really won't compile without the others i suppose i can provide those too although i don't think i wrote any documentation for them. Quote:
he didn't find all the bonus screens btw! |
