EAB/Lemon Super League 2019 Round 3: Llamatron

EAB/Lemon Super League 2019 Round 3: Llamatron: 2112

Starts: 12:01 February 24th Finishes: 11:59 March 17th

Rules

Post a picture of your score here with the score written underneath. Enter as often as you like.

No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. No continues/passwords allowed. If you suspect anyone of cheating please let us know in private - anyone found guilty will be banned for the entire season. One player mode only!

If you have two joysticks press fire on the 2nd joystick to start the game and play in dual wield-mode!

Here are settings for WinUAE to play with both analogue sticks when using a PS4-pad (shouldn't be much different for PS2-, PS3- and XBOX-pads):

(Note that "Joy1" is the 2nd joystick, the one to direct your shots.)

Please only post scores on either Lemon or EAB - whatever one you choose is your team for the season (if you haven't chosen already).

Should you manage to get to level 98 (which only very few players will be able to) take a screenshot at the start of it! Continue playing and take another screenshot when you're game over. There are score leeching issues on level 99 so we need to have a screenshot of your level 98-score in case scores get too fishy afterwards (like someone getting much further having lower score than one dying soon after the loop).

Remember, anyone can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Added a new rule:

Most won't be affected by this but a few might get that far. So take a screenshot at the start of level 98 and another when you go game over. Then post both.

It feels like it'd take an absolute beast to reach level 98.

The game gets quite intense around level 20. I do like the way the game throws extra lives at you when you're almost dead. It keeps it feeling tough but never hopeless.

You should really give the dual stick-mode a try. Feels like that's the way it's supposed to be played.

I think that's my next plan. I've hit a brick wall around level 20 and can't improve on my score.

The biggest problem I have is consistently firing in the direction I want to, particularly in diagonals. The two joystick setup is probably the best way to solve that as I'm just not getting better at aiming with practice.

I can't figure out how to make this work reliably with a Xbox 360 gamepad.

I've got the mappings set up (I hit Test and confirmed the joystick axis and button). The right joystick sort of works for aiming, but the aim keeps being dragged in a random direction by movement of the left stick. I expected only the right joystick to control the direction of fire.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Doesn't happen for me (Playstation pad though).
Note that under "Game ports" you should have no joysticks selected.
Please post your input config.

If you are epileptic, do not play this game!
I like this game, really crazy & exuberant

The level 36 is fiendish, isn't it John?

Indeed - lost my remaining 8 lives there. Best way to "beat it" is to collect a warp-item in levels 32-35 I guess.

Eventually got better scores with 2 joysticks. I still occasionally forget during play which joy controls player and which shots

1,072,898 without warp-item, shooting on lasers to repulse them can help.

Yeah I also managed to beat it properly in a later go but then went out of lives soon after.

@lifeschool: I don't have access to a PC for a while. Please update the scores here as well.
On Lemon I can't reply with my phone because it always says session time out. The things you talked about there are no big issues though.
