A1200 1D4 and accelerator cards
Hey there, I'm struggling to find a clarifying answer to a doubt I have regarding an A1200 rev 1D4 motherboard and potential compatibility issues with accelerator cards.
I read about the timing fix and so on, and I'd like to understand if that is a must (and if so I'd appreciate if somebody could point me out to some guide or similar). Does it cause any sort of compatibility issues with accelerator such as Terrible Fire 1230 or 1260? Or is there anything I should be taking care of? Thanks! |

The 1D4 A1200 mobo was considered the most stable with accelerators years ago but cards like Apollo 1240/60 can be better suited to 1D1 boards etc. 2B boards were always regarded as in need of the timing fix mentioned on this page: http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/ACA1232

All terrible fire cards are tested on all versions of the A1200 so there should be no compatibility problems, but the Timing fixes are a must and recommended also the TF1232 is available now, a 050/30 with 50mhz FPU

Thanks, that helps me a bit to understand, but so what issues might be expected concretely without the fix, stability issues, else?
Also, as I understand this might happen or not, so it's kind of a random thing. |

@supaduper
Have you tried the 3Com cards with TF1232? There have been some issues with TF1230. |

I suspect i know what the issue is. Its due to PCMCIA decoding based on the lower 24 address bits and ignoring the OVR/PUNT signals. Same reason the card and the Solas dont work. Rob and I spent an evening with the logic analyser looking at why that happened. |
