Cool Cool Retro-Boxes on eBay

Title Says it all...

Mac SE FD HD

I know, but it is a nice one & having bought one recently to
turn into a PC for my daughter, I was amazed by the quality
of these things.

NMW Server

Oh, come-on! Never heard of it? What does
that matter?

Ti 99/4a

Now this one's going for silly money...
...but imagine a brushed-steel A1200 with black CDTV
keyboard. Hmmmm.

SGI Indigo2

Ahhh, what a pervy boot-message...
...Do you notice the Lavender coloured case? This is a VERY
special Indy2 - I'm not sure the owner even realises. I'll let you
do a bit of Googling to find out why. And a fearsome amount of
kit to go with it too!

C= 128D

Need I say more?

Compaq Portable III

Damn it! Pick up only...
Such a cool, old-school portable. Plasma screen. Ooo, to put some modern
guts in this sucker...
...or how about squashing an A4000 in there..?

NeXT NeXT Station

I'd sell my daughter to get my hands on one of these - sadly my wife
won't let me...

Oric-1

It's an Oric-1. You know, sooo much better than a Speccy,
but possibly wins the prize for the most bugged-ROM ever
found in a computer released to the public...
...that's ok though. This one has an Atmos ROM too. Oh,
and I happen to have a spare brand-new Atmos case that
Oric-1 guts will go right into if anyone wants to make me an
offer.

Tandy TRS-80 model 4

Utterly useless! But if we wanted useful computers why
would we be members of a retro-computer BB..?

Epsom? Epson HX-20

With all the goodies! Great keyboard, & still a very
useful travelling word-processor. Some hacks in
the press still swear by these things.

Atari Mega 1

Atari? I spit on your Atari! I dangle my genitals in your
general direction...
...still quite a cool retro box.

Intertec Superbrain II QD

'Hey, I've got a Superbrain!' With one of these, for once,
you wouldn't be lying...
...and the hours of hilarity you sould have:
'I've got a Superbrain'
'Yes, I've got a Superbrain II'
Laugh? I nearly started.

BBC Master 128

This ones got a few rather nice goodies.
What? You've never yearned to play the Master-Turbo version of Elite on the real thing with one of those lovely analogue sticks?
Your sick man, sick.

Sharp MZ-80A

One of the platforms like the Research Machines M-Z80K
that died a death in the UK when the Beeb came along...
...Har, har!

Cobalt Qube 3

Now, unlike to Qube 2 which must be to world's coolest server,
the Qube 3 is almost as cool & is actually useful!
Mind you, this one's being sold by a highway robber!
Never heard of a Qube? How dare you! Look @ the Avatar and
weep!
I'll resurrect that old thread - I'm warning you!

Is this a fun thread?
Feel free to make comments / additions.
Maybe if one of the mods is as exited as me they'll make it
sticky.

@Charlie

Clearly Awesome!!!!

thats a trip down retr0-lane if ever there was one...

I am quite Keen on the NeXT station, C= 128D, SGI Indigo2, Ti 99/4a and the uber cool (and colossal) NMW Server.

the latter always reminds me of something from Buck Rogers.... mind you if it came with the female Col. Dearing in tight spandex... i may well have to buy it

Charlie, regarding the Epson HX-20 - I think you mean another common Epson, with more than 20 characters per line

And he didn't have 4 AA batteries to test it with? Fishy.

Ooo, ooo - Some British Cool

Acorn Electron: Plus1, Plus3

You don't see a bundle like this come up too often. £72.00 @ the time of
writing - I expect it to go WAAAY higher than that before bidding is done...
...bets?
I'll put 50p on £300.00!

'ACP Advanced Rom Mk 1 Adaptor containing Slogger T2P3 (Tape to Plus 3)
convertor' - Now that's an important bit of kit of any seroius Electron fan.

There was an error in the thread scale awesome percentage software, shutting the system down, doesn't help that it is being run on a commodore 8 digit calculator.

Sharp MZ-80A

You see, the Japs (oo-sorry: The Japanese) did sell some micros in the UK.
This wasn't a bad one - but yet another that lost out to the good-ol' Beeb.

Another Oric1
Did I mention I have a brand-new Atmos case that an Oric1 mobo will go into if anyone is interested..?
Thought so...

C= PC1

What were C= playing at..? Included because crazy rubbish
is now quite rare & it's sometimes nice to get your hands on
physical evidence of a company's mistakes - just for:
'I wouldn't have done that if I wuz you' value.

Sharp PC 1211

Didn't you just hate the boy @ school who had one of these?
But didn't you really think: 'That's so cool, I wish I had one
too - the b*stard!'
Go on, admit it...

Atari 800

IT'S AN ATARI 800 for GODS SAKE!!!

ZX81

I HATED my ZX81 - such a SH1T computer. But looking back
on all those frustrations: No memory, no GFX, no sound, ram
pack wobble. Hours typing in crappy little progams only to
spend the next few hours looking for the typing mistake(s)
only to either:
a) Discover it wasn't worth the effort (again).
or
b) The revenge of the ram pack wobble would strike!
Somehow the memories seem to leave a rosy glow...
Belated tip:
Beat the ram pack wobble! Turn the little b*stard over and
drip hot wax all over the connector - that won't be moving
again!

Dragon32

I had to think why the 'D' 32 should be included...
...then it struck me. Let's face it no-matter what machine
you had you could always look down your nose at the
Dragon owners and think 'At least I didn't buy one of them!'
(Unless you owned a Mattel Aquarius - Har, Har!)
Hell even the Tandy owning loonies could feel happy, safe
in the knowledge that here was a person who owned a bad
clone of their own bad computer...
...Still the Dragon owners have their revenge: Just about
the best 8-bit OS ended up on their humble box.

ZX Spectrum+

Now, I never found the old Speccy to be that cool. Didn't
then, don't now. Maybe it's my being scarred by the ZX81,
maybe it's the rubber keyboard that made you feel like you
were poking a corpse's anus... (shudder)
But the Speccy+ is a different matter: It's black, it didn't
sell well (sympathy), and it didn't make me feel like I was
being forced to take part in Clive Sinclair's perverted plot
to make every young boy in the country find out what a
dead anus felt like! ahem.

Ooo, another Oric1
Did I mention I had a spare Atmos case..?

Dead Anus
AKA: Spectrum 48k

Tandy CoCo

Not a Dragon32, so cool-ish.
