Yeah, no kidding! Would have had a major impact, methinks! I'm definitely on the lookout for such a beastie.
@Pyro I'm currently in N.C. I'll probably end up getting another A2000 on ebay since it's like pulling teeth to get my ex-roomie to ship my stuff back to me. I still have my vacation time from 2001 so I may just fly out to CA and send the stuff back myself, but I will have to be very careful with spending money for a little while. |

I got an A500 (1.3 and 512 kb RAM, later upgraded to 1 mb) for Christmas of '89 and I still have it, although I don't use it much nowadays, but it's sitting next to my PC at the moment.
Btw, what's an A1500 as mentioned in the poll? I never heard of that model before, but I know all the others. |

YEY!
I have 2 A1200s, one has a 170Mb HD and an 040/40 accelerator (blizzard i think!?) with 16Mb. My favorite fo my Miggys!
The other A1200 has a 30Mb HD and has the Y key missing off the keyboard.. :^\ (gotta blue tack it up or it repeats yyyyyyy forever! Joy!) Also this poor battered machine has to use an old A500 modulator `cause the normal tv out is dead! I also have an A2000, with only one floppy drive, kickstart 2.0 and no HD!! Good for older games but its so bloody big! and mostly empty, i never filled any of its slots , let alone got a HD! Still, amusing! |

A1500
I thought the 1500 was the UK version of the A2000 but with 2 floppy drives instead of one.

Yep and that's what an A2000 is as well - an A500 in a big box with expansion slots. Well, in my laymen terms it is anyway!
It was released in order to compete with an A500 conversion unit supplied and sold by Checkmate Digital that was also called the A1500. It was shifting a few units and Commadore thought, "we'll have some of that". My friend bought the conversion model; hence my laymen terms above, but both the official release and the conversion were essentially the same spec, give or take a few slots. As for the extra drive, all I can think is that Commadore must have had a lot of spare floppy drives hanging around Later, an A1500-Delux was released with a rom switcher (1.3/2.04) and a ram expansion. Whooooooo, what a piece of kit!!!! Last edited by Bloodwych; 24 January 2002 at 14:26. |

I think the A1500 is an A500Plus in a big box with expansions The deluxe (hahaha) version was released with the rom sharer so people would not have as many compatibility probs, thats all.

OK, I have three different Amiga's they are:
A500 - Bog standard except for the 512k mem upgrade and 25Meg HDD A1200 - Apollo 1230/40, 2Mb Chip / 32Mb Fast, 250Meg HDD CD32 with SX32 Pro, these things are very hard to find, luckily I bought mine a couple of years ago when they were still available The only ones Im using at the mo arew my 1200 and CD32, but the 500 does come out sometimes to play some games that don't work on my 1200 |

Hey I want to edit my vote!
Today I'm a proud owner of: 1) plain A500 with kick 1.3 2) A500, 1MB ram with kick 1.3 (I am surprised to see the expansion board was made in Turkey but it doesn't have a battery backed up clock ) 3) A1200 with stuff you know already, for I'm yelling it out loud for some time 4) c64 No more relokicking or degrading! these machines are already as "degraded" as they can This also legalizes my use of 1.3 roms with emulators (as if I care about it) Last edited by Burseg; 19 March 2002 at 11:35. |

Real amiga's
I still have my Amiga 1200, 600, 500 and 500 + althought all are boxed apart from the A1200
Even though I hardly use the 600 or 500/+ I can't bare to part with them I mean what if something was to go horribly wrong with my 1200.....I mean aaarrrgggghhhhhh, I would have to emulate all the time then and I couldn't have that |

I bought my A500 in 1990 and a CD32 about 4 years later.
The A500 was the best £400 I ever spent and the CD32 was the biggest waste of £300 ever!!! I didnt hate the machine (CD32) but it was so badly supported by the developers, I wish I hadnt wasted my money. Ive still got my A500 boxed in the attic because I just cant bear to part with it. My old C64 is up there too. |

Like many of the other posters here, I can't accurately reflect reality in the poll, since I have more than one Amiga, so I'll do what everybody else is doing and simply do a post to answer the question.
I have an A500 with Kickstart 1.3 that I bought just after they first came out. I had a friend that worked for Microbotics at the time, and he helped me upgrade it with a Fat Agnus, and did the mod to bring it up to one meg of chip ram. Later, when Commodore first started offering discounts on A2000 systems for users who turned in their A1000's, I managed to pick up an original A1000 from my local dealer for $250 that had been turned in, and I considered that an absolute steal. Commodore didn't actually want the A1000's back - they just wanted them off the streets so they wouldn't have to worry about supporting them in the future. The dealers were happy about it, because they could turn around and sell the old A1000's to folks like me. It didn't take long for Commodore to figure out though that the machines were still on the streets, and they soon changed the discount program to require the dealers to send the keyboards back to Commodore. I wonder how many poor A1000's wound up going to the dump for the lack of a keyboard. Too bad, because it's actually a very nice machine, and the only Amiga that I've ever been able to play some games (like Hacker) on. |
