try a diffrent cable first, but it might just still be the disk sensing switch

Unfortunately I don't have another Amiga floppy cable to test but today I kept the floppy drive in my hands while seated on the floor, breathing slowly and concentrating on the nirvana... I felt like a complete idiot but the diskchange sensor didn't get upset.

Even an incredibly slight vibration (like its own motor revving) is disturbing the sensor.
This weekend I'll take some time to play "Operation" .... hope this is the last time... I'm kind of fed up :-)

Ok, here's an executive summary of a couple of hours of work: I give up. I cannot understand what's wrong with this drive.

I tore apart the drive, cleaned everything that looked dirty, opened the diskchange sensor... I tried everything I could, to no avail. And I've lost the spring of the diskchange sensor, FML.

If any of you could kindly have a look and help me diagnose the issue:

PROS:
- Learned to tear apart a Chinon FB-357A drive.

CONS:
- Will have to buy a new one

While I'm waiting for a CF and a new floppy to arrive, I've stuffed all the components into the case.

I connected the A4000 to a VGA monitor with a VGA-to-23pin adapter.
First test with an LG flatron 17" but no luck, cannot lock anything from the Amiga outputs, not even plain VGA signal. Strange.

Then I tried an old 15" CRT (a Panasonic 1585) and worked. I placed a couple of monitor drivers into Sys/Storage/Monitors and it seems the best tradeoff I can get is Euro72.

I consider the whole task finished:

There are a couple of things left to do but I've learned enough to manage by myself. Please all of you accept my most sincere acknowledgements for providing support.

It was really interesting, I think the next project (recovering the A2000 as per thread subject) will be easier. This is somewhat what they say when your first baby is born. Managing a second pregnancy is easier ;-)

I will keep you posted when I'll take the A2000 home (maybe September).
