Ami<>PC linkup problem
i recently got the connection stuff.. but...
here is the email i sent to the publishers and i'm waiting for their responce.... but i thought maybe someone here might have an idea... --------- Hi I recently purchased your Amiga to PC Linkup software and cable... but i'm having a few problems setting it up. After running the PC2amres program on Windows 98 SE, the software seems to just stop.. displaying Amiga <-> PC transferer DOS 7.0+ detected, using long filesnames. Resident installed. with the standard MICROSOFT WINDOWS POP-UP PROGRAM SUPPORT message. It does not close and "sit" on the task manager? Then on the Amiga, i run the mount software for KS3, an ICON X box appears and displays a few error messages, mainly .info errors, but a PC Disk icon appears... Using both Workbench and the Filer program, i am able to browse my PC drives, but if i try to upload anything to the PC, i get packet errors displaying... Data to long or such like, it manages only about 10% of the transfer... - I am using an existing RJ45 network for broadband net access through NTL, would this have any effect? - ARGHHHHH, i'm stuck... please advise of what steps i can take to rectify the problem Many Thanks ------ ? |

NetworkPC tips
A couple of other tips since I use this program a lot between my Amiga and Win95 PC:
1. Download Requester.lha from Aminet. I can't live without it! I altered my startup script to run "retry 3" then it mounts PC: and this way when an error pops up, it will automatically hit the retry button after 3 seconds. That is about the best number I've found to get it to resync after an error. Nothing worse than going to bed leaving 1 gig to transfer and it stopped during the first file waiting for you to press a button! 2. I find if I close NetworKPC on the PC side things go crazy if I restart it. Files get transferred as 0 bytes and half the files in directory listings are missing. I generally reboot the amiga if it gets too stuffed up. Plus the amiga takes 5 seconds to boot, the PC over 1 minute. No choice Hope that helps! |
