BTTR say that Wings needs no special save disk, save onto the second ADF
Maybe the save dir in the second ADF is full..empty it out..that mihgt help. Come back if these don't work, there are people here vastly more qualified than me. |

Always remember to use a BLANK FORMATTED ADF before trying anything else
If you just created the ADF in WinUAE, then it's not formatted. http://amiga.supergamez.hu/Util/empty.zip I think that disk is formatted. Try that one |

Thanks for your responses,
I read that the game is supposed to save on disc 2 but it doesn'work. The way I do this is to have the second disc in drive df1.Is there someother way to do it ( like using only df0 and then change discs ( and how do I do that )? If the problem is because the second disc is full, how do I empty it ? once again, thanks |

No problem, Billy. Well, i like to use ADF Opus or install ADF View..these lets you open an ADF (ADFView intergrates with the shell in Windows) and see its contents, without using comand line.
Usually you'll see a dir "saved game" or just see the saved game(s) ithout a folder. just delete them, reboot WinFellow..should work. |

If i have right, the game wings is an flight simulator/arcade for the first world war.
This game work perfectly with WinUAE 8.8. For saving the game, you MUST deprotect the game disk (adf image attribute read-write enable). So, like original disk, you must use copy of disk and never the original disk. The version that i have is an cracked version from SkidRow. Other important thing about the game and the save game. You can save the game on exit only, if you want to play again after saving a game you must restart the game again (reset/ load program/load saved game). If you are dead, you have the choice to continue the story with another pilot without experience or reset the Amiga and load the saved game again (but that is cheating, if you are dead, well ... that the life ). Have fun with this very good game |

I forgot something very important: you can have only 1 saved game on the disk 2.
I you want delete it, you don't need to edit the disk or delete files. Just in main screen of the game, select 'new game' and the program will delete the old saved game. Remember, ONLY ONE saved game per disk 2. But i you are smart, you can play differents game on different copy of disk 2. A important thing to remember with emulators, after have made a modification (write on disk, delete a file, ect...) DO NOT RESET THE AMIGA. First eject the disk (the adf file will be update if the attribute file is read-write enable) for the updating of the disk other else, bye bye your saved game, remember an emulator will never be it same as an real Amiga I forgot it one time with a game, and after hours of playing, i have saved a game and reset the emulator without eject the disk. The disk whas not updated and the last move lost for ever |

After all that, if you cannot save, that will say that you disk 2 is corrupt !!!!
The second disk can be corrupted by a bad saved game or just an corrupted adf.
The first time that i have save and reload the game wings, there whas an error occured (maybe i have reset the Amiga too fast or delete the disk too fast ?). You can try to recover it with an salvage tools if you have no other copy of this disk, other else just delete the corrupt one, and copy again the good one. A good tips for saving game (good FOR ALL GAMES ): Play with a saved gamedisk, you have finish the save, eject the disk (for updating the adf), then reload to see if all is correct (reset/load program/load save). If all is okay, then make a backup of it in the same directory but with a different name like (for example wings): Wings_Disk02 Wings_Disk02_BackUpOfSavedGame You can zip it if you need to spare hd space. When you crash you saved game, you don't loose everything I do that every time that i need to save a game, and i don't regret it |
