editing winuae source code

hi all

i am new to programming but am learning in visual basic, how do i edit the source code of winuae?

i am interested in learning how it was programmed

any help would be appreciated

Well, the basic requirement is good knowledge of the C programming language in both writing and reading (source is very sparsely commented and sometimes not really trivial) . Unfortunately, experience in Visual Basic doesn't really help much and WinUAE coding isn't really suited as a beginners project.

I would suggest you have a look at the source archive or browse the CVS repository here first.

Development is usually done with MS Visual Studio (free Express version is fine), there are some threads about compiling the source like this, this or this one.

thanks for your reply, i will check out all the pages you have listed and try and learn and hopefully down the track i can make significant changes to better the project.
